Review up on Culture Crossfire today. Convenient timing as they've almost gotten up to that point in 1994 RAW episodes on the Network. :)

Kamala don't be a bitch and pick a match of the night.

So do I...but it's one of the most interesting discussions you can have in wrestling. The ladder match was more influential. The Harts match was as close to perfect as you can get.

HBK/Razor is still, IMO, in the top 1% of ladder matches and is one of the top three influential matches in WWF history but Bret/Owen is p. much the perfect match.

Wild to think Macho didn't even do a RAW match/mini angle between this and November.

---
Shit Nash needed to be built up, Owen could have used further legitimacy from a screwy win over Savage, Faker Taker in a schmozz for ratings.... or have Macho go over Adam Bomb or do something with the Quebecers to play off Savage rooting against them on commentary..... Something! Anything!

I'm surprised they didn't do Bret-Savage on Raw after their Japan match. It's not like they had any PPV plans for that pairing.

Still one of the most baffling decisions Vince ever made. Hogan I totally understand letting go, because if he's not drawing you can't justify his price tag. But Savage was the prime candidate for the "Babe Ruth role," a mythical position within WWF/E that only ever existed in Vince's head and that no wrestler was ever deemed worthy enough for. And I'm not even sure what it means other than he would be a legend who was the canonical GOAT and Vince would say "HE'S THE BABE RUTH OF THE WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION" on commentary. But Savage could have been that guy, working with Bam Bams and, uh, Jarrett, and OK maybe there weren't enough heels for him to work with that they weren't saving for Bret. But still you can't expect this guy to take the demotion and not take a hard look at the Turner money.

I guess Bruno was the prototype for the Babe Ruth role when Backlund was champ. It should have just been called the Bruno role but he was on the outs at the time so I understand why it wasn't.

I still think Savage benching himself in 1990 to get off roids and try and have a baby was the moment that 1st doomed him with Vince.

Then he got the title as the biz was dying - Savage didn't save the WWF, so Vince decided in late 92 to bench his WM 8 main eventers Flair/Savage and push the hot new talents Ed Leslie and Terry Bollea.
