Am I the only one here who thinks that Flair is actually trying to eclipse the longevity records that were set in place in the wrestling business by the late, great Lou Thesz?

Ric Flair was a year younger for the Last Match PPV than Lou Thesz was when he wrestled Chono so I guess that is motivation for him to come back and fart around in the ring.

Hey, c'mon. Flair never gets to be the least pathetic person at an event.

It didn't end well for Flair on Kill Tony. We'll see if he gets offended here and walks off.

NOBODY IS GOING TO BOMB THE BATHROOM BEFORE THE NATURE BOY! WOOO!
Smashed Flair getting mad that the pizza is late that is supposed to be soaking up his booze?

I started Tim Hornbaker's Flair book. So far nothing mind blowing. I did laugh that Flair's adopted Dad was a gynecologic doc. Felt on brand.
Flair seems lucky to have landed in wrestling as he was going nowhere fast at 22 years old. Washed out of college, no sports to fall back on at a pro level. Even when he left the AWA he asked Verne for a loan (denied) because he had blown through his earnings. Learning on the road from Dusty must have included money advice.

I heard a story round here that he got kicked out of a NC restaurant that he was a regular at because of his drunkenness. I don't remember much more of it, so sorry for the lack of detail.

There's gotta be more than one Waffle House in Charlotte for him to chill at.

I have read multiple stories of Flair hanging out in bars for three star hotels (Hampton Inn/Holiday Inn level ) in Charlotte. Which makes me think he’s there cause the actual bars had thrown him out and/or he is just looking to be recognized (by people who aren’t fed up with his schtick or haven’t thrown him out of their bar?)

The man spent his entire heyday camping out at Marriott and Doubletree bars across the country because those bars stay open very late and you can just go up to your room after that. Way more accommodating especially when the type of guest Flair wants to spend the night with is going to frequent that place.

Also, it’s easier to rack up points with hotels and for a guy with his financial struggles, that works for him.

Flair is never going to go to your corner dive because there’s nothing to be gained there for him.

A fun nugget from Tim Hornbaker's Flair book: In the late 70s Flair bought a used limo and paid a dude to drive him from town to town to live the gimmick. He then added a bull horn to the roof (classy!) to troll fans as he drove around town.
By this time he had already spent 10s of thousands of dollars on robes.
He made around 75 grand his first year of being a pushed guy in MACW.
His star was rising though and he even got a pin over Baba while on an AJPW tour towards the end of the 70s

So Flair was a money disaster from the moment he started making "real" money. By the time he won his first world title, he was 150K+ in debt in back taxes. George Scott started a company to help him organize the debt, and the Crocketts gave him 30K in exchange for exclusive rights to his gimmick/persona whatever. He was already divorced with several kids and living his gimmick whether he could afford it or not.

For anyone who has ever worked in a bar, what is the policy on taking a huge tip from someone totally wasted? Here Ric tells the server to give herself a 1000 tip, but is obviously drunk out of his mind. Would you get in trouble for actually taking it?

I liked Flair’s look of confusion and possible terror when the middle aged guy next to him at the bar offered to go outside and be the poor bar manager’s champion in combat against Naitch.

75 year old, drunken, heart failure patient Flair isn’t going to beat up the average, reasonably healthy 75 year old let alone someone a half or third his age. I mean even when he was a younger man, this is the guy who threw worked punches when he tried to heat up Eric Bischoff backstage.
