BB16: HOH, Noms, and BOB #8

Fallout from the double eviction was still the big topic in the house. Nicole was crying,  upset that got blindsided and couldn’t trust anyone. Donny tried his best to calm her down. Nicole was mad at Christine and especially Frankie the most. She continued to throw Frankie under the bus, calling him out on his lies.

It worked to a certain degree. Zach started to believe that Frankie did want him out. Caleb was also suspicious of Frankie. Frankie knew that he needed to win HOH. Meanwhile, Derrick just sat idly by and let the carnage take place right in front of him. He was the driving force behind flipping the house, but he successfully convinced the right people that he was the one being manipulated.

The next HOH game was the “BB Tourn-eye-ment. Players faced in a tournament-style competition until it got down to two people. Each question was hidden in an eye chart. The possible answers to every question were one or two. Whoever buzzed in first with a correct answer moved on. An incorrect answer meant their opponent won the round.

In the first round, Nicole defeated Cody, Victoria beat Derrick, Christine won over Donny, and Zach took out Frankie. In the next round, Nicole answered correctly first to beat Victoria and become the first HOH of the week. It was a big relief for her. In the other duel, Zach deployed the strategy of buzzing in as quickly as possible and hoping he got lucky. It backfired though, as he picked the wrong number. As a result, Christine won and became the other HOH.

Nicole was still upset with Christine, but knew they had to make peace as dual HOHs. Frankie and Zach both went up to Nicole at different points to try and sweet talk her. Nicole actually was open to working with Zach. She figured that since she was alone in the house, she had to align with someone, even if it was a flake like Zach.

Unfortunately for Frankie, talking to Nicole blew up in his face. He threw Cody, Derrick, Zach, and Caleb under the bus, but word got back to them. Now Frankie had drawn the ire of his supposed alliance friends. The guys hatched a plan to put someone up next to Frankie and throw the BOB. Caleb was the lucky soul drafted to carry out that task. If the plan worked, Frankie would be going home this week.

For the nominations, Nicole put up Caleb and Frankie as expected. Christine went with Donny and Zach. Zach was angry about being nominated. Christine and Frankie were dead to him as a result of the shady things they did to him.

The new BOB theme was Ravens vs. Steelers on Thursday Night Football. That game is going to be the first CBS game of the season, so it was an easy way to slip some promotional material into Big Brother. In fact, the winners of this BOB were going to be treated to an NFL tailgate party outside of the house.

This game was called “Moving the Chains”. A long bar was used to guide balls up a path to different holes marked off by yard lines. The bar had a chain on each side to pull it up. The first team to get 10 balls to the holes in the correct order would win.

Frankie tried to pep Caleb up and talk strategy, but Caleb gave him the cold shoulder. At that point, Frankie sensed that Caleb was planning on throwing the mission. Frankie tried to plead with his partner, but Caleb wasn’t having any of it. Caleb blamed Frankie for getting Amber evicted and berated him for throwing the guys under the bus. He was sitting this one out.

So Frankie had to go it alone and try to take himself off the block. He struggled early on as Donny and Zach jumped out in front. As the course got tougher, Donny and Zach started to get out-of-sync. Even though Frankie had to pull both chains himself, he eventually got the hang of things. At the halfway point, both “teams” were tied,

In a bit of a panic move, Zach tried playing solo to hopefully pick up the pace. It didn’t work, as he struggled to maneuver the balls. Frankie took the lead and was close to winning. When Zach and Donny worked together again, they caught up and tied the game 9-9. It was a mad dash to get the 10th and final ball up to the top hole.

Frankie was able stay calm enough to balance the bar in get the final ball in first. He became very emotional from winning BOB on his own and saving himself for the week. However, he knew that he wouldn’t be safe in the weeks to follow. Frankie was hated by everyone, so his Hail Mary plan was to reveal his big secret about his sister being pop star Ariana Grande. He hoped that would get the house back on his side.
