The big plan to evict Frankie did not go as planned, as Frankie won BOB to take himself off the block. Caleb tried throwing BOB by sitting out, when in reality, he would’ve been better off sabotaging the game while playing it. Frankie winning was the worst possible scenario for Nicole, as she was dethroned as HOH and vulnerable to being put on the block. She did have an agreement with Christine that neither person would backdoor the other, but it was a dangerous game for Nicole to play in trusting Christine.
Zach still felt bitter about being betrayed by Frankie. He made a point to call Frankie out on his lies. Frankie denied the accusations at first but eventually copped to lying. He justified it by saying that everyone on Big Brother lies. Frankie knew he was in a bad position in the house, so he opted to play his ace card and reveal his big secret.
Frankie gathered Zach, Cody, Derrick, and Caleb to inform them that he was not currently working on Broadway and was really a Youtube personality. More importantly, he revealed that he was the brother of pop sensation Ariana Grande. The reactions ranged from apathy to anger. Frankie also dropped a little nugget about playing the game for charity, specifically, to build schools in Africa. I’m guessing he did that to diffuse the questions of “why is this rich kid here?”.
Frankie then told the girls about Ariana. They were shocked, but not as impressed as you might’ve thought. Most of the other houseguests recognized Frankie’s reveal as a strategic move to divert the attention from his past lies. Zach was particularly upset about this new information. He figured that Frankie was a shoo-in to win Big Brother plus the fan favorite vote based on his celebrity ties and charitable intentions.
Lately in the house, Derrick had been befriending Victoria. He saw that she was alone and decided to support her during her numerous emotional musings. The reality was that Derrick was covering all his bases. Victoria would hopefully represent an extra vote for him at the end of the game. Derrick also made a final two deal with her as a contingency plan in case his original final two partner, Cody, got evicted.
The contestants in the next POV competition were: Christine, Zach, Donny, Derrick, Caleb, and Nicole. Zach had a defeatist attitude heading into the competition, but his fellow detonators pepped him up, reminding him that the only person they had to worry about was Donny.
For this POV, the players were given clues by Otev, a Gilbert Gottfried-sounding penguin (as silly as it sounds). The clues referred to previously evicted houseguests. After a clue was given, everyone had to hurry and find a scratch-off card with the correct person’s name on it. Once the right card was obtained, the players would rush back and kneel on their stumps. The winner would ultimately be determined musical chairs-style, meaning in each round, there would be one fewer stump than players.
Donny, Nicole, and Christie were the first three houseguests eliminated from the POV game. That was great for Zach, as the only people left were him and his alliance friends. However, he still wanted to win POV for himself, as he didn’t 100% trust Derrick and Caleb. Zach did just that, winning the next two rounds to earn POV. This was bad for Donny, as he had no allies in the house. It was also bad for Christine, who wanted to see Zach leave.
With Zach winning his safety for the week, he was in a much more willing mood to make peace with Frankie. He still had plans on taking Frankie out if he got the chance though. Later on, Zach spilled the beans about his alliances to Victoria. Victoria was upset because Derrick kept her in the dark about the alliances. Zach became worried that he said too much. If Victoria didn’t keep her new found information a secret, his game could get blown up.
Zach attempted a preemptive strike by claiming to Derrick that Nicole told Victoria about their alliance. Derrick, the cop that he is, investigated the situation as he suspected that Zach was lying. He also diffused the situation with Victoria, basically implying that she was gullible for believing Zach. Derrick gathered most of the remaining houseguests together to clear the air. By the end, Derrick manipulated the situation so that Nicole was on his side, Zach looked like a liar, and Victoria blamed herself for any misunderstandings.
As for Team America, their next mission was a no-go from the start. Their task was to convince someone to go on the block as pawn and then vote them out. With Donny already on the block, the mission would be extremely difficult to pull off. Frankie, Donny, and Derrick all agreed that the task just wasn’t feasible this week.
Since a replacement nominee would have to be named, the Detonators went to work on Nicole. Derrick threw out Nicole’s name since she was only option not associated with him. Caleb fabricated a story about Nicole planning to backdoor Christine in the hopes of influencing Christine. Zach told Christine that people suspected her of working with Nicole, and that failing to put Nicole up would confirm that they’re working together.
During the veto meeting Zach used the veto on himself. Christine ended up caving to the pressure and selected Nicole as the replacement nominee. Christine acknowledged that she had a hard choice. She knew that if she made the wrong decision, she would find herself on the way out the door next week. With Donny and Nicole on the block, maybe we’ll finally get a close vote. This season has made me cynical though, so I’m just going to assume that the house will inevitably come to a consensus and make the eviction vote a formality.
