BB16: POV and Eviction #14; HOH #15

A pivotal moment took place as Caleb put Frankie on the block next to Victoria. Caleb knew he had to take the first swing before Frankie was able to do so. It was curious that Frankie felt blindsided even though he knew he was a threat. Cody and Derrick were satisfied that Frankie was nominated, but were irritated by Caleb saying too much about their thought process to Frankie.

Being evicted this late in the game would surely sting for Frankie, especially since he learned about more money he could be missing out on. Team America’s main missions are over, but if a Team America member wins Big Brother, he’ll win a $50,000 bonus in addition to the $500,000 grand prize. So the pot was sweetened even more for Frankie and Derrick.

Because of the BB Rewind, the next veto competition was a repeat of BB Freak Show. The houseguests were preparing hard for the mission, studying everyone’s faces that were displayed on the wall. Frankie performed exceptionally well in his victory the first time this game was played, so everyone else would have to step up their game to defeat him.

The competition was a bit different, with new freak shows to figure out. Also, the last freak show had six facial features to identify instead of the usual three. Cody was the first one up, and he delivered, setting a fast pace of two minutes, 21 seconds. He made his way to the HOH room to watch the rest of the proceedings.

Neither Caleb nor Victoria could lower that time, which meant 2:21 was still the time for Frankie to beat. He understandably panicked a little as his Big Brother life was on the line more than anyone else’s. That may have been what cost him, as he failed to beat Cody’s time. When Derrick came out to the backyard to play, he assumed the 2:21 time was Frankie’s. He got nervous after failing to beat the top time. Derrick was able to relax moments later though when he learned that it was actually Cody who won the veto.

During the nominees’ speeches, Frankie tried highlighting the fact that Derrick had never been on block, and using the veto would automatically make him the replacement nominee. He also leaned on the loyalty angle with his fellow Detonators. His words didn’t matter, as Cody opted to keep Caleb’s nominees the same. Frankie was quite salty afterwards as he feared that his time in house would be coming to a close.

Still, Frankie chugged along, trying to persuade Cody and Derrick to save him. His rationale was that his target would be Caleb and not the two of them. Once again, Frankie’s efforts were in vain as Derrick and Cody cast the votes to evict him. Frankie had been a polarizing figure as the show progressed, but he was cheered when he came out to the Big Brother stage to meet with Julie.

Frankie felt that he might’ve been played by Cody and wanted to re-watch the show to see what he was really up to. He knew winning competitions made him a big target, but his philosophy was to always play to win. He also stayed loyal to his alliance because he was playing for charity and didn’t want to compromise his values (Note: I’m not buying it; at some point he would’ve blindsided his allies like they did to him). Frankie also admitted that the Ariana reveal got him further in the game.

The next HOH winner would guarantee that person a spot in the final three. He or she would still be eligible for the final HOH competition too. This one was called Foggy Memory. It was another challenge that focused on past events in the house. Julie named an event and asked if it was before or after another event. There were seven questions in total. As outgoing HOH, Caleb had to sit on the sidelines.

After four rounds, Victoria and Cody had four points while Derrick had three. Victoria was the only one to miss questions five and six, which put her out of contention. Cody just had to get the final question right to win outright. But he missed it, and Derrick took advantage to tie the game.

Now, it was time for a tiebreaker question. Each guy had to come up with the number of seconds it took for the luxury competition to be completed. They couldn’t go over the number unless both did. In that case, the closest would still win. Cody put down 680 seconds and Derrick went with 420 (heh). The actual number was 462, so Derrick was the big HOH winner. The man who almost undoubtedly has played the best game so far will be in the final three and has a great shot at satisfying one of his final two deals.
