WWE NXT – June 26, 2013

WWE NXT – 06/26/2013

This week’s show opens with the crowd chanting NXT.  We are told the #1 contenders for the tag title will be determined and Big E Langston’s music hits as he makes his way to the ring.

Aiden English is waiting in the ring and he does not look at ease.

Big E Langston vs. Aiden English

Big E looks all business and quickly grabs English.  He tosses English, who catches himself on the ropes, blows kisses to the crowd, only to get thrown by Big E.

Langston steamrolls him and the straps are down quickly.  English up for the Big Ending.

Winner: Big E Langston

Regal keeps a somber tone, showing off the bad mood Langston is.  Even though Big E is still angry at his title loss, he complies to the fan’s wishes to scoop Aiden up for one more Big Ending and a Five Count.  Langston pauses before heading up the ramp, the crowd is chanting one more time.  Langston goes in and scoops up Aiden again.  Another Big Ending.  Another Five Count.

A match graphic is showing Graves/Ohno vs. Dawson/Dylan for the #1 Contender spot in tonight’s main event.

RVD return promo airs.

Emma is in the back shooting a bubble gun and very focused on that while Renee Young tries to ask her strategy in the Women’s Championship tournament in her Round 1 match against Aksana.  Emma says Renee Young can’t have her bubbles but she does need her to hold them as she has a match.  Between Emma and Bailey, I wonder who in NXT wanted to book two women to have the mentalities of small children.

Aksana is making her way out to the ring.  The dance music hits and the crowd is doing the weird Emma dance.

Women’s Championship Tournament – Round One

Aksana vs. Emma

Regal is giddy talking about Emma and we hear how Emma is not only the first Australian at NXT but she was also trained by Lance Storm.  Interesting.

We are told Aksana wants to be the next Lithuanian champion like Arvydas Sabonis.  Excellent.

Aksana takes early control but Emma gets away and gets a quick rollup.  Aksana does not like this and starts grounding Emma and stomping away.

Aksana crawls toward Emma and mounts her for a pin.  Emma kicks out three different times before these two just start rolling around the mat with each other.

Aksana starts shouting but the crowd may be the most dead I have ever seen a Full Sail crowd during this match.

Aksana does an interesting move where she squeezes Emma’s head between her knees and continually bangs her head against the mat.  Aksana places Emma in the corner and starts delivering some chops.  After a few, Aksana shakes her butt in Emma’s face.  Emma kicks her away and starts taking over.  Emma grounds Aksana and straps in her hold, the DilEMMA.  Aksana is forced to tap.

Winner: Emma

We see the brackets for round two – Paige vs. Alicia Fox and Summer Rae vs. Emma.

Emma is in the ring doing her dance with a group of little boys, including an albino with no rhythm and a kid wearing a RAW is Jericho shirt, who likely wasn’t alive when Jericho was actively using that.

Leo Kruger’s same peculiar life and exotic human being promo airs again.  It does every week.  However, at the end, it has NEXT displayed at the bottom of the screen.  This guy had been the champion when they were FCW.  He was one of the guys held off originally. This happened with Ambrose, due to an imminent main roster debut (although he ended up being joined by Rollins and Reigns).  Xavier Woods was expected to debut when barely used too but ended up just being sparingly used on NXT.  Maybe because he is back in graduate school.  We will see with Kruger…

Back from break, Dante Dash is in the ring.  Dash may be the first “Already in the Ring” guy used that doesn’t look like a jobber.  They hype him as The Playmaker and a former All-American football player from Rutgers.

The lights go out and Leo Kruger comes out.  Regal tells us he was told by Kruger that he went back to South Africa to take care of business.  I almost get a Kraven the Hunter from Spider-man vibe.

Dante Dash vs. Leo Kruger

Kruger slinks toward Dash and Kruger supposedly has a history that has made nations cry.  Dash ties Kruger up first but Kruger takes over quickly.  Regal really puts over the man that trained Leo.  Kruger is working over the arm of Dash.

Dash gets up and lands a punch but Kruger makes him pay by really working the arm by smashing it several times over his shoulder, before ramming him into two consecutive ringposts.

Kruger hits a really crisp variation suplex and starts whooping in the corner before hitting a move he calls The Slice.  Regal highlights it is a move similar to what Kruger does when he throws a cricket ball, which he can do at 100 miles per hour.  He waves at his opponent and says Ta-Ta before wrapping Dash up in a submission for the victory.

Winner: Leo Kruger

Kruger stops and leans at the guardrail next to some kids, which seems like a rather good-guy thing to do, so I am fairly confused on where they are going with this character.  I guess we will see as he starts interacting with the regulars of NXT.

We get a video of Conor O’Brien talking about “we are the Ascension”.  Good to know that mystery guy gives him a partner in ascending again.

Mickey Keegan is in the ring, who fits the blend of clear squash guy I was describing in the previous match.  Apparently he is another disciple of Killer Kowalski.

The third ever NXT Champion is on his way to the ring next, Bo Dallas.  As Bo is in the ring, we are seeing Leo Kruger is still crouched in that spot ringside.

Mickey Keegan vs. NXT Champion Bo Dallas

Dallas quickly takes down Keegan, as we hear a list of other Kowalski trainees.  Keegan gets in minimal offense before the champion takes over.

More than anything else we hear about the shock that Bo Dallas gave the world with his win.  He does his weak toss finisher.

Winner: Bo Dallas

Dallas gets a special spotlight on holding his title up.  Kruger comes in the ring and starts beating up Keegan as Dallas watches on.  The crowd starts chanting KRUGER.  Leo touches the title briefly and just smiles at Bo.  He yells Ta-Ta as Dallas looks confused.

Another graphic for the tag team main event.

TOTAL DIVAS PROMO.

Byron Saxton is in the ring, doing the ring announcing for the main event.  Kassius Ohno is introduced first.  We see a recap of Ohno/Graves coming to the aid of Neville last week, setting up last week’s six-man tag main event.

The Patron Saint of Bad Decisions, Corey Graves comes out next.

Before Saxton can introduce their opponents, Sylvester Lefort interrupts in French.  He hypes up the tandem of Dawson and Dylan.  You can tell they mean business tonight because Dylan is not chugging barbeque sauce.

#1 Contender’s Match for the NXT Tag Team Championships

Kassius Ohno & Corey Graves vs. Scott Dawson & Garrett Dylan

Dawson and Ohno start off, as Ohno takes down Dawson quickly.  Quick tags are common in NXT and Graves comes in, working over Dawson’s arm.  As Dylan gets riled up on the apron, Ohno comes back in and grounds Dawson.

Another exchange brings Graves back in.  Lefort is wearing a zebra print shirt on the outside, so the camera angle made me think there was a second ref for a second.

The match is very slow-paced so far for the teams involved.  Graves and Dawson start exchanging blows and Garrett Dylan finally enters the match to lay some heavy blows to Graves.  Dawson and Dylan utilize their quick tags making a couple switches to do some team moves with Graves in the corner.  Dylan back in working over Graves as the main event enters a commercial break.

Back from break, Dawson is kicking Graves.  Regal puts over the fundamental tag work of Dawson/Dylan, something I have noticed, which will probably disappear when they sadly become a jobber team on the main roster.  Poor Man’s Cade and Murdoch seems to be the ceiling I see for them in the current state of the tag division.

Graves breaks free from Dawson and gets Ohno in, who speeds things up a bit.  Ohno drops some elbows and kicks and picks Dawson up for what looked like a brainbuster variation.

Dawson looks up with Ohno.  Dylan makes a blind tag, Dylan/Dawson hit their awesome finisher which is now called Southern Pride but Graves breaks the pin.

Dylan in with Ohno, quick tag to Dawson, who kicks away at the head of Kassius.  Rough looking clothesline by Dawson but still only a two count.

Dylan back in for the redneck team, applying pressure on the shoulder of Ohno.  Regal acknowledges a fan in the crowd trying to start a “You Can’t Wrestle” chant, which Regal spins into calling the person uninformed.

Ohno breaks free and after a struggle, tags in a now rested Graves.  Graves takes down Dylan with a plethora of punches and a running knee to the face.  Dylan tries to kick away Graves but Corey grabs his leg and ties him up in the ropes.

A power move by Graves leads all four men in the ring.  Ohno takes Dawson outside, Graves ties Dylan up in the Lucky 13 submission hold for the win.

Winners and #1 Contender’s for Tag Titles: Kassius Ohno & Corey Graves

The winners have no time to celebrate as the Wyatt Family is in the ring attacking the winners.  The music of Adrian Neville hits and Neville evens the numbers game.  As Neville starts taking control, Scott Dawson is in helping the Wyatt Family.  Suddenly, William Regal jumps up from the commentary booth and helps the faces.  He wails on Harper as Dawson and Dylan pin him down, as the rednecks are helping the Wyatt Family.  Wyatt, Harper, Rowan, Dawson and Dylan all beat on William Regal as Lefort shouts on the apron.

Wyatt hovers above a squashed Regal.  Dawson, Dylan and Lefort eventually leave but not before showing more disrespect to Regal.  The Wyatt Family circles Regal and pummel him some more before finally leaving Regal laying in the ring.  They once again stand tall to end this week’s edition of NXT.
