WWE Superstars – 8/8/2013

WWE Superstars – 8/8/2013

Superstars opens this week with The Great Khali and Hornswoggle entering to the applause of the crowd.

3MB’s music hits and it is going to be Jinder Mahal competing against Khali tonight.  Khali gets riled up as McIntyre taunts Hornswoggle.

The Great Khali vs. Jinder Mahal

Dawson and Riley discuss 3MB’s claims they have been performing on soundtracks for Bollywood films as Khali lays his first big chop into Jinder Mahal.

Slater is outside hitting on the desk, getting Riley upset, while Khali just smashes Mahal in the corner.  Slater and McIntyre are upset on the outside.

Khali throws Mahal to the outside and McIntyre pulls Khali’s leg, which allows Jinder to get back in the ring and ground the former World Heavyweight champion.

Jinder starts working the leg of Khali, whether he is dropping elbows on it or tying it up.  Khali struggles his way out while a concerned Hornswoggle looks on.  Khali lays a big hand to Mahal and is able to get up, however Jinder nails him with a running knee.

Khali throws a boot to stall Jinder’s momentum and chops him down.  Drew tries to get involved once more but Khali disposes of him while Hornswoggle takes care of Heath.

Khali hits his Punjabi Plunge on Jinder to gain the three count and the victory.

Winner: The Great Khali

Hornswoggle and Khali dance in the ring before we are shown a graphic advertising Daniel Bryan’s corporate makeover from Monday’s RAW.  If you missed Monday’s RAW, check out the recap as done on Culture Crossfire by Jonthan Dehn.

Back from break, Riley states Bryan should be cleaned up the way the Yankees make players clean up and we get the opening segment recap for this week.

The recap of Punk-Brock for the week is shown in video package form.  I fast forward because there doesn’t seem to be a sign of Brock telling Paul to “Say Something Stupid”.

WOO WOO WOO, YOU KNOW IT!

That only means one thing, the upcoming opponent is about to get a win!

Zack Ryder comes out with Justin Gabriel in tow and we hear how we haven’t seen Ryder and Gabriel together on Superstars before.  As they talk in the ring, the whistles blow, it is The Prime Time Players!

This time last year, the Prime Time Players seemed destined to take the tag titles at Summerslam.  Instead, WWE decided to do Team Hell No and the Players went to the background.

Zack Ryder & Justin Gabriel vs. The Prime Time Players

Darren Young starts the match against Justin Gabriel, as Dawson starts talking about Justin returning to his home for the WWE’s tour of South Africa.  We hear how Gabriel is “President Famous” in South Africa.

Darren goes back to his corner quick but as he gets back in the match, Gabriel takes advantage quick.

Gabriel makes a quick tag and Zack sends Darren into the corner.  The two exchange offense before Ryder drops Young face first.  Young kicks out at two and Ryder works D-Young in the corner to bring in Gabriel.

A tandem move, a Ryder leg drop, Gabriel does one swift move to take out both members of the PTP.

As Darren and Titus are on the outside, Ryder tries to dive on them, but they do a tandem catch.  Gabriel resolves this by diving onto everyone.  Zack and Justin regroup as the show takes a commercial break.

Back to the action, Titus O’Neil flattens Justin Gabriel in the ring.  We hear about the athletic experience of Titus as he brings Young back in to work over the Capetown Werewolf.  Darren argues with the ref and Gabriel must hear Ryder’s call of “fight back”, as he starts gaining momentum.

Young brings in Titus, who stomps on Gabriel while blowing his whistle because he is great.  Riley says the PTP would rather look good and lose.

Ryder starts stomping on the ring to get the crowd going as O’Neil stretches Gabriel.  Justin tries breaking free but as he does, Titus nails him with a big boot to the face.  Justin tries crawling to Zack but Titus pulls Justin back and then kicks him in the gut for good measure.

Tag to Mr. No Days Off and the PTP do their suplex spot where Titus drops Young on Gabriel.  Young looks like he hurt his knee on the drop and twists Gabriel’s leg to stall before bringing O’Neil back in.

Titus starts dropping legs and playing around with Gabriel.  He stretches out the Darewolf again while Ryder looks on frustrated.

Young must be okay because he comes back in and this leads to Gabriel getting free.  Both men down and both men tag.

Ryder tricks Titus and gets on the offense.  Titus sends Ryder to the corner in a whip but Zack knocks him off and nails a middle rope dropkick.  Zack gets Titus where he wants him and nails the Broski Boot.  At two, Darren Young breaks the count.

Gabriel comes in for D-Young but Young hits his finish on Gabriel.  Young gets hit with a Rough Ryder but this opens up Titus to hit the Clash of the Titus on his former NXT pro.

Winners: The Prime Time Players

We get a Millions of Dollars dance.  Can’t remember last time I saw one of those in post-match.  It feels like forever but still almost bittersweet, as all four of these guys could’ve used a win.

Gabriel and Ryder are shown laying out on the ground as the Players signal for the belts in the ring.  Young shouts “Only a matter of time!”  I wish as much as you guys…

We get a graphic for RAW’s Bryan/Orton/Cena vs. Shield main event.

We get the final six minutes of the main event and that closes another edition of WWE Superstars.
