I had no idea Nikolai Volkoff was actually staunchly anti communist and had so much hesitancy playing that character.

Pretty dumb for me to assume that cause if he was fine with communist rule, he probably wouldn't have defected and became a World Wrestling Federation superstar!

I started reading Too Sweet, which is history of independent wrestling written by Keith Elliot Greenberg, who ghostwrote a bunch of WWE autobiographies. Surprisingly really good and thorough so far. Way way better than the pretty garbage book from 2017 about history of independent wrestling. Does a good overlook on the landscape as well as the history of the indies, dating back to outlaw territories of '60s and '70s.

He's going to be at my local wrestling store on Sunday doing a signing of the book (Gallows and Anderson will be there and I have tickets to meet them). I might pick up the book, too.

There are a ton of great teams on the indies. AEW alone has about a dozen, WWE has a few that will be on there for some reason, even if they are never used, NJPW, AAA, etc. It'll be easy to find 50 teams. Knowing how PWI ranks them, most will be in the wrong positions.

I just hope my boys The Maine State Posse make the cut somewhere.

I know there's definitely more than 50 good tag teams out there and tbh, last half decade has been best time for tag team wrestling 25-30 years but it doesn't seem like enough of a boom period to decide now is the time for the list. I'm guessing it's the AEW factor that triggered the decision as they are the first promotion in at least 25 years to present tag team wrestling near or at the level of top level singles guys.

Some Wrestling Twitter babies are upset that Top 5 of PWI's Women's list are all WWE.

I'm no WWE cuck but kayfabe argument isn't there for anyone in AEW to make Top 5 and as strong and underrated as Impact's women's division is, I don't think they're prominent enough and I don't think there's been a dominant enough champ to justify that high of a spot on the list.

As far as talent, there are women I'd have above most of the top 5, but this is a kayfabe list. A 500+ day reign as champion gets that top spot 10 out of 10 times.

I blew through the Young Bucks book the past 2 days. I have the audio book so I can listen to it while working. It was really good, but the person they got to read it could have been a little better. He mispronounced a bunch of names in the book, but otherwise is was good.

I had that come in with a few other books in the last week. Glad to hear it sounds well written as some of the wrestling ones can be hit or miss.

The thing I really like about the book, it show why the Bucks certainly are HOF worthy, contrary to what people on the board think. Their influence really is pretty big, and it doesn't matter if someone like their style or not. They've changed the game just over the past couple of years alone, but before that they were still having top quality matches.

I bought the Young Bucks autobiography with some Christmas gift cards and honestly I am really enjoying it. It kind of borrows format of A Lion’s Tale where it is the story of everything leading up to their big mainstream breakthrough (I’m assuming a second volume covering their AEW run more extensively will come out in 3 to 5 years) .

The @Laz es of the world will be pleasantly surprised to see how much of their pre 2014 careers are discussed. It is on pace to join my first tier of wrestler autobiographies.

I actually think Drew's book could be surprisingly interesting. It's weird to say surprisingly since he is one of the top guys now and most top guys of the past 20 years have had books. But I think his story from going top prospect to bust to World Champ could be extremely fascinating. Plus I'd be interested to read about the British indy scene in the '00s just as they were climbing out of the doldrums.

Plus I as well would like to read about his failed marriage to Taryn Terrell.

All you pervs clamoring for the Taryn details. It’s funny he timing of this because Drew just shared in an interview a story of the original gimmick for him was going to be an underwear model, which was a story I never heard before.

Insert gif of Vince falling over in his chair cause he's too horny from an early '00s Smackdown.
That’s basically it. It sounded like he was dropping muscle to get lean for it but when he met with Vince, Vince could tell he wasn’t committed. Male Emmalina stuff right here. Hoping for more details like this.

If anyone else is thinking about getting Drew McIntyre’s book, Barnes and Noble’s website is currently selling signed editions for cover price.
