So anyone looking forward to a new season of games?

I have to be pumped up for the fact that for the first time ever, NBA2K10 is in handheld form with the PSP. It's about time it went portable.

NBA Live last year was disappointing to me, so I'll probably pass on Live 10.

At this rate, I wonder if Iverson will even make the cut for the games. I think the rosters are usually as of July or early August and he still has no team. Maybe he'll be in the free agent pool.

I haven't played an NBA game since around 2008, which franchise is generally regarded to be the best? What are each others strong points and downfalls?

To me gameplay, controls, graphics and pretty much everything is superior in the 2K series. I know a lot of people still like Live because it was a classic but for some reason, in recent years the Live series seems too arcade-like to me. I think for the past few years that 2K has been by far much better on pretty much every level you can ask for.

Was 2K the one with the commentator guys half time stamps of approval and stuff, cos I thought that was pretty funny. Commentary was decent too from what I remember of the last 2K game I played.

yeah. 2K has the Halftime report and the Gatorade Around the Cooler updates with the legend that is Craig Sager. To me, the gameplay is more realistic and some touches like that make it fun as well.

Ah yeah, was certainly 2K that I played and enjoyed a few years ago, think I'll look into picking it up again this year. Thanks for the reminder :)

Yeah..I gotta go with 2k.

Live lost me when as Yao, I could pull out a Tim Hardaway-esque UTEP 2-Step followed by a Chocolate Thunder rim-rattla dunk

What he said. I've preferred 2K ever since the first game on Dreamcast, and Kobe on the cover only helps. ;)

By far it's the 2K series.

I do hope though that the Live series improves the gameplay. It was very choppy at times over the years.

For all its faults (and yes, there were many), I loved playing Live last year. And from everything I've read, the game is getting a serious overhaul this year. One of the main men behind the 2K series has been hired away to run the Live development, and things sound promising so far.

Once I got used to play 2K9, it was actually a decent game. My problems are:

The fucking franchise mode is busted because I played through a season, wanted to start the playoffs and could not.

The menus are confusing as hell.

The dunks have gotten more ridiculous in that and-ones occur I would say about 80% of the time, if anyone is even close to the dunking player whether he's being guarded or not.

I have never been a fan of the shot stick, but it is the only way to get any consistency on jump shots, sadly. I can go 9-11 from three in one game and then go 2-13 the next game.

I may behind the times, check that. I know I am because I am still playing a PS2, but is it that hard to make sure that if you;re going to release a game that it actually works??

if 2K10 is more of them same, I'll take a pass.

Seriously! It's fucking impossible to draw a charge in 2k9! I get called for blocking almost every time. And so does the opposing team, so I just play on turbo most of the time.

I'm pretty good at the game, but it's annoying at times. I think Madden 2010 has made enough improvements in gameplay (and from what I hear, franchise and a REAL online franchise mode) to warrant buying it, but I'll hold off judgment on NBA 2k10 until a demo comes out. I might wait until 2k11 or later in the season to buy it when the price drops.

I normally get at least 3-4 charges called on my opponents per game.

I just suck at posting up.

the last 2k game I got was 2k5 and it was pathetically easy to draw charges... you matched up with the point guard, dropped down to the free throw line and then hit triangle when he tried to get by you drawing a charge.. good shooters would take a step inside the three point line and bury a jumper, though players who were lightning quick like Iverson, you had to know exactly where he was going to be, and set up early, otherwise he was going to either blow by you for a layup or dunk, of you would get called for blocking. It was a system, and if I could get the star point guard to foul out by the third quarter

yeah I was able to sort of do the same, but let's just say they fixed it in a huge way for 2k9. It's a lot more realistic now.

NBA 2K9 is the toughest basketball game I've ever played, but it's easily the best. It's easy to draw charges, just get in position.

Its not that hard really... I thought 2k5 was tougher from the standpoint of getting rebounds and blocking shots... I think I ranted about 2k5 on the old board. On 2k9 getting rebounds are easier, defending is easier, its just that any player with a high dunk rating is in control of the game. Oh yeah and they nerfed stealing too.

In 2k5, I easily mastered HOF mode. In 2k9, you have to bust your ass to win.

Wait, it's an XBLA game? Meaning I have to spend more money on it...? Damn, I thought it was part of the game.

Yeah, it's out now, I know that for sure. I believe it costs 400 points, but that part I'm not sure of. Aw crap; I ended a sentence in a preposition.

The Live 10 demo is out now. Gameplay feels very different from 09, and I love the new passing.

I pre-ordered my copy of 2k10 the other night. I was debating over getting just the game or getting the 10th Anniversary edition.

As part of a limited edition offering of only 30,000 copies, each NBA 2K10: Anniversary Edition will be individually numbered for authenticity. Fans can now preorder their copy online and at local retail outlets across the country. Ten lucky fans will have the rare opportunity to find an autographed Kobe Bryant fine-art print, designed by Shepard Fairey’s Studio Number One, which will be hidden and randomly packaged among the different lockers. Gamers with Xbox LIVE online entertainment network and PlayStation Network membership will also be able to enjoy special privileges for NBA 2K10: Anniversary Edition, including exclusive access to an online lobby - the Gold Room - where celebrities and other VIP members will go to play, and only players with the Anniversary Edition will be allowed to enter.

and how much more is this golden ticket edition?

$99.99. Amazon is pre-ordering the standard for $52.99, so I was having a hard time justifying $47 more...

I do wonder if you do use this new draft combine mode, would you raise your stock so much to affect the first round of the draft.

I will need to play some 2k10 this year.
