09. "Heaven" - Title of this makes me want to listen to the Warrant song of the same name. Think I'll just do that instead of listening to any more of this trash.

Shout out to old Jews and old rules
New blacks with new stacks
I already been the king
Retro act, I'm just bringing it back
Like Jordan Packs
New money, they looking down on me
Blue bloods they trying to clown on me
You can turn up your nose high society
Never gone turn down the homie
Knock knock I'm at your neighbor house
Straight cash I bought ya neighbor out
You should come to the housewarming
Come and see what your new neighbor 'bout
Yellow Lambo in the driveway
A buck 35 on the highway
Frank Sinatra on my Sonos
Loud as fuck I did it my way
A million sold before the album dropped
White Lexus before I had a deal
Ask Bun B about me
This ain't no snap back, a nigas been trill
By the way, fuck math
You ain't gotta count it my nigga I can add
1 million, 2 million, 3 million, 20 million
Oh, I'm so good at math
Might crash ya Internet
And I ain't even into that
When I was talking Instagram
Last thing you wanted was your picture snapped
Feds still lurking
They see I'm still putting work in
Cause somewhereinamerica
Miley Cyrus is still twerkin'
Twerk, twerk, twerk, twerk
Twerk, Miley, Miley, twerk
Twerk,
Twerk, Miley, Miley, Miley, twerk
Twerk, yeah, ugh-huh
Twerk, Miley, Miley, Miley
Only in America

07. "Somewhereinamerica" - What is this new song naming convention, dude? Why are you running these words together? This beat has some cool noises on it, especially the piano figure, but once again the insufferable jackass rapping on it ruins everything. Last minute (of a 2.5 minute long song) is literally just him going "uh" and "yeah" and "hah" over orchestration. Calling this "self-parody" would be too kind.

Musiq Soulchild used to do that a lot.

Frame of reference question, bulb.

Actual Jay albums/songs you've enjoyed/got on your iPod?

16. "Nickels and Dimes" - The sort of thing I imagine they play at Aspen Ideas Festival after parties. Near the end this asshole has the temerity to say "Sometimes I feel like y'all don't deserve me." You're right, Hov, no one deserves this.

Also the last line is "the greatest form of giving is anonymous to anonymous," which is a perfect way to end an album whose original distribution mechanism doubled as a data mining tool.

Jay-Z has responded to criticism from legendary actor and activist Harry Belafonte that the rapper has failed to use his celebrity in a social responsibly way. Last year, Belafonte reportedly said “I think one of the great abuses of this modern time is that we should have had such high-profile artists, powerful celebrities. But they have turned their back on social responsibility. That goes for Jay-Z and Beyonce, for example. Give me Bruce Springsteen, and now you’re talking. I really think he is black.” During a recent interview with Rap Radar’s Elliott Wilson (carried on Jay-Z’s Life+Times YouTube channel), Jay-Z said,“I’m offended by that because first of all, and this is going to sound arrogant, but my presence is charity. Just who I am. Just like Obama’s is. Obama provides hope. Whether he does anything, the hope that he provides for a nation, and outside of America is enough.” He continued, “Just being who he is. You’re the first black president. If he speaks on any issue or anything he should be left alone…

I could hear the Jay Z/Timberlake concert that was at the Rose Bowl last week from my house like it was right now door. What I couldn't hear was a single song I thought was any good (not that I paid attention to the whole thing).
