Fish, the game picks up alot once you get to Connor. I did a couple of the sea missions after upgrading my cannonballs and I just SHRED everything. I should probably start reading the Assassin quests I can send my assassins on, I randomly clicked the Assassin you unlock from South Boston control first and he had an 85 percent chance of success despite being my lowest rated Assassin.

Just did the Boston Tea Party, couldn't figure out how they wanted me to dump Redcoats.

Figured out the Captain mechanic too, I was trying to break their defense straight up, instead of countering into the break the defense, that's what was kicking my ass.

Finally got Young Connor into the open world and it's finally opened up. Haven't even gotten to Boston yet, just hunting things, taking over a couple of forts, and doing the Hunting Lodge missions. It's funny as shit to see a skinny 14 year old Connor kicking the crap out of a fort full of redcoats. Countering does seem to require more precise timing in this one though. Not a lot of counter kills, usually I just grab them and throw them away.

After a couple really annoying bugs and the first mission that has made me have to walk away before losing my temper in a couple years I think I may be done with this game.

The one where you chase the Indian broad through the snow. The wolves tear me apart. Dying just means that the pullets I've used to shoot wolves in the previous attempt are gone.

I think I'm nearing the end of the story. After taking so long to get to the meat of the story they are just rushing through everything now. Major plot points are revealed then it's quickly off to the next sequence.

Also, the side stuff is either completely pointless (aside from getting money and items) or they don't bother to explain what you get from it; sending recruits out on missions levels them up, but I don't know exactly what that does. I assume it makes them stronger, but the game never explains anything. I haven't touched the trading and crafting since it was first introduced in the game.

Just finished it.

Thought they were going to go the ME3 route and give you a choice, but they don't. It's basically "Well, that arc is done; see you in the next game! No closure whatsoever. Desmond's family tree is just full of patsies.

Overall I'm pretty disappointed. Things just never came together that well.

EDIT: Christ, these credits are like 15 minutes long!

Yea, I'm pretty astounded they didn't give you the choice between going with Minerva or Juno. Because I was all prepared to choose Minerva while that cutscene was going on. Then he's like nope, even though she just told me life is going to go perfect for the next few 100 years, I'll go with the chick who's obviously heeling it up and about to cause some destruction. Dumb decision.

And I will be especially angry if he's considered dead and they start with someone else. Because that was not a conclusion to his story at all.

I started playing again. It really seems like they saw how pumped people were for the setting and then half assed everything else.

I'm actually liking the naval battles more than the land battles. Hunting down Biddle's turning out to be more entertaining than going after... the land Templars *edited for spoilers*. Just wish you could loot the wrecks like in Pirates!

Man, I miss Pirates!. Going to play that for a bit today I think.

I've never played any other AC game. Can you pick this one up and play without being completely lost?

Not really. A lot of the impact will really be lost on you. I'd say at the very least look up an Assassin's Creed Wikia or something like that and brush up on some of the history of the 'background characters'.

So I just got Captain Kidd's sword. Just sailed to the temple and got it, without doing anything else. Not even talking to the old man. and now I can't equip it.

What the fuck?!

Just finished the game.

Fuck this series. And fuck most modern day video game sequels/series.

When did "The story is over" become "Fuck all the time and work you put in to the series, we're killing the main character"?

Why are people getting butthurt over
the story ending for a main character? He's been in like 5 games. Maybe it's time to move on to someone new.

Because we deserve a better ending then "I'm Dead..." (Which I honestly don't believe he is.) But like you said, he's been in like 5 games, so we've been following this guy's story for years, so with all that build up you expect to have an "Epic" ending. This was not that.

In fact, everything here went contrary to what they've been building for years as all along we've been trying to find this first civilization because they know how to stop the end of the world and they want to help us, then all of a sudden it's introduced in this game alone PSYCHE I just wanted you to release me, I'm not going to help at all. The Desmond story was the best part of the games to me. There were times where I would play levels, just to get to the next Animus portion. So if it is just over, especially over a stupid decision that we didn't even get to make. That's pretty bogus.

And it's not like I even hate the ending. But I could see why people would. And I personally think they could have done a lot better. But very little was really explained, so there's plenty they could do with the next one. (Which is another thing that sucks, we waited for so long for this whole new step in the franchise thinking it would bring new answers since it was a whole new story...and it didn't. Which means I have to wait another few years, and another 60 bucks).

Ahh, I see. The complaint is with the content not specifically with the fate of a character, which is how I was reading it. My bad. =)

To be fair, for me it kind of is about the fate of the character.

To kill off the main character is just laziness to me. In both AC3 and ME3, they make it out to be a "greater good" sort of thing, which is a cop out. The Assassins have been built up as this group who have spent centuries struggling and fighting against a superior force in the Templars. Now, rather than have the character fight against a seemingly indomitable force (Juno and the end of the world), they have the character give in to it. No alternate solutions given or even thought of, no matter how ridiculous it might seem. It just seems like the writers and designers thought, "Well, we've come up against a wall. This character the player has spent several games and numerous hours getting to know and associate with has become a super badass, but it's time to end his story. How do we finish it? Give them an ending that satisfies the gamer who has spent their time and money on this? Nah, let's fulfill our own nebulous sense of SERIOUS AND ANGSTY WRITING and kill the character! How could that go wrong?" It almost (especially in the case of AC) invalidates everything you've worked for. Smacks of laziness and a stupid attempt to milk the consumer out of more money.

That's what offended me.
