The cell phone arena is picking up with Windows phone 7 set to step in soon. So how do all those cellular devices rank for you?

OS wise, unless Windows phone 7 brings alot to the table_ webos is clearly the best to me. Real multitasking handled well, intuitive, lightning fast with a beautiful UI. And that's with it running on second rate hardware

Apple comes in second. Lets be honest, the first iphone was a shitty phone. But since a few upgrades have come and IOS has added features that windows mobile had since 2002(with out the choppy performance) it is a pretty great UI.

Windows mobile 6.5 comes in third for me. It's choppy, but functional amd business wise it's second to none.

Android comes in 4th for me with Blackberry,Sybian and whatever else there is behind that.

actual phone wise, it's a toss up. Honestly, I don't want a d inch phone screen, the iphone annoys me, so my palm pre is what's up for me. My overclocked, patched palm pre which is just plain lightning fast. It has a cheap build but I will deal until the next generation of webos devices come out.

I had a Pre but jumped to Android along with everyone else who was otherwise happy with Sprint but didn't want to deal with a company that has no guarantee to continue making more devices. My HTC Evo 4G makes me pretty happy. WinMo blows goats, and I'm not a big fan of iOS personally. webOS has the best multitasking functionality out of all of them but that app market is lacking something fierce and there's not a device running it that's really all that impressive.

I have Windows Mobile on my work phone. It's clunky, slow and freezes up quite a bit on a TouchPro2.

I had a TouchPro before I got my Evo. Now that I have Droid Market I'm not going back.

Using a Droid Incredible on Verizon. Will upgrade to the Incredible HD (Supposed to be Verizon's version of the Evo) when it comes out later this month.

Love Android way more than iOS, WinMo, and even WebOS. I loved WebOS too, and had a Palm Pre Plus, but went with Android once it became apparent that Palm was going under.

I have a phone that calls people, receives calls, and allows me to text with a slide-out keyboard.

I like my Blackberry Tour and how it handles email. That's pretty much the main thing for me in a phone.

I actually set my pre back to the default settings today to see what everyone else had to experience and ew...if I was a early adopter I would have taken it back. Having it overclocked to 1ghz..its just amazingly smooth and fast. I just can't deal with Android. While it's not as clunky as winmo could be, it's not as productive as I got used to syncing my phone. Plus, once I started messing with roms on winmo, it was usuable...except with the touchpro which was the worse phone I ever owned.

I am hoping hp drops some new webos love at CES this year...and hope sprint gets it..because it's going to take something fierce to tear me away from webos right now(although win 7 has me intriged, I need to see what the hackers can do with it first)

I have a Blackberry Curve. It was a decent phone for a while (about a year and a half ago), but it doesn't have enough on-board memory to do much of anything. My upgrade is coming in March, but I'm not 100% yet on what I'm going to upgrade to. I'll probably stick with a smart phone.

Does anybody have any experience with the Kin 1 or 2? I have a 'feature' phone from Verizon and i'm eligible for an upgrade. I have no need for a smartphone with the full $29 data plan. I remember when the Kins came out in the spring, people said it was absurd to be sold as a smartphone. Now that they're in the feature phone category, they seem like a better deal. Thoughts?

That phone was debuted and dropped quicker than any phone I've seen since I started following them.

I'd stay away, honestly. I'd be surprised if there's anything resembling decent support for either of them at all.

I'm due for an upgrade from my current iPhone 3G and I have no idea what to move onto.

I do like my iPhone, and I am tempted to do a straight upgade to the iPhone 4, but there's a big part of my that wants to try something different as the iPhone is the only smart phone I've ever had. Tempted to try either a Blackberry or something running android. I've heard very mixed reviews about the Nexus S.

I don't think you'll like going from an iPhone to a Blackberry. It's pretty much a step back from a technological standpoint, in my opinion. Android is more of a lateral move as far as OS goes. Hardware on Android phones tend to advance a bit quicker than the iPhones, but since you're on AT&T you're kind of stuck as far as Android choices go.

The Nexus S is a nice choice, though I'd prolly wait and see what comes out after CES in January.

The wife and I both got Droid 2's last month with a rebate + coupon deal that made the final cost less than 2-for-1.

Awesome phone. Truly awesome, though I am more in love with it than she is.

I'm actually on O2 network in the UK, my contract has expired with them though so I'm free to jump to another network should I wish too.
I've looked into things a bit futher and I'm certain I'd like to move to something running Android.

I think you're right suggesting I wait until at least until after Jan 6th and the CES to see if anything brilliant gets announced. I can always carry on with my iPhone 3G until then. If nothing I like the sound of is announce I've heard great things about the HTC Desire, so might give that a spin.

There's always a lot of cool shit that they show at CES. I know my next phone will probably be shown there, so yeah. Couldn't hurt to wait.

I can't say enough about how much I like the Android OS. Sorry about the AT&T assumption. I saw iPhone and immediately went there.

The HTC Desire is a great phone. They put the Desire HD out around six months ago, but I dunno if that's on the O2 network or not. I know it's on Telus and probably Vodafone. Anyway, happy hunting on that.

Tried buying some Palm type smart phone at Verizon since I was due for a free upgrade. The clerk looks at me and goes, "NO!" I said "what?" She said "NO! Hey Betty, the Palm smart phone...?"

Betty chimes back, "NO that phone sucks!"

I used the Palm Pre+ for a few months last year, and while I liked it, it's definitely outdated now. The Verizon reps probably did you a favor as well, since support for those devices is pretty thin right now.

A plain and simple Samsung Phone. No bells or whistles. I'll never understand the people who have to have a internet, ipod music, or a movie watcher on a phone. You want music? Get an IPOD. They are cheap and affordable. Internet? Get an IPAD or computer. Internet service is cheap. And then there's watching movies on your phone - which is a fucking joke. I can think of three better places to watch a movie: a movie theater, on your TV, or on your computer, but there are actually idiots out there who like to watch movies on their fucking phone. If you think you've experienced a movie by watching it on your cell phone then you are one sad, stupid, lazy person. In the words of David Lynch - "Get real!" Watching movies on you telephone has to be the stupidest fucking thing that I have ever heard of.

There are people who don't want to carry all that shit around when you can have it all in one small package.

I like how he says that if someone wants the internet, they should get an iPad. Which, you can watch movies on and listen to music on as well. Also, doesn't the iPad not support flash or something like that, which means a good portion of sites you want to visit won't work? Yeah, way to go there buddy..

While I'm waiting in the shop as my car is being worked on, or a similar situation I'd like to be able to watch something on my phone to pass the time. But since a movie theater is a better place to watch a movie I should instead be forced to sit there and do nothing. I could listen to music, but since that's best for an ipod, which I've left at home, can't do that either. I'd surf the internet, but well you know.

This.

Also - how does watching a movie on your phone (or any portable device) make you lazy? That's such a nonsensical thing to say, CBright. How are these people idiots? Because they want an all-in-one device? It sounds pretty fucking smart to me. I must me one of those dumbasses, because I do all of the above, especially when I'm on transit. I also read books on my phone via the Kindle app - guess I'm one of them morons who are too lazy to carry around 500 books with me at all times. Shucks!

My phone, the Droid Incredible, is now free with the 2-year plan. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great not-too-large smartphone on the cheap. Especially good for sad, stupid, lazy people.
