I carry a flat screen and a dvd player around with me.

I only have a cell phone at all because my wife upgraded to a Droid several months ago, and I've barely used it. I don't get the fascination either, but I admit to being the weirdo in that equation rather than lashing out like a retarded twat like CDumb.

I mostly like mine now that I can't use the internet at work. Fooled you, federal government.

Anyone selling any phones? I'm looking to get an Android smartphone on a CDMA network (Verizon).

So Verizon is to the point of sending me strippers to upgrade my phone. I've had the same phone since Feb 09 and it still works as good as the day I bought it. It's a very pedestrian boring flip phone with a camera that I got for 19.99 with the 2 year plan.

Thus far I've gotten messages saying "Upgrade!", then "Upgrade with a discount", and now "Upgrade, with a discount AND a $50.00 credit!" So I'm holding out hope for a schoolbus full of cheerleaders or something.

*ANYWAY* I've started observing their selection of phones, and I'm pretty much going to have to accept the smart phone revolution. My entire family, office, and most of my friends are playing "words with friends" and it looks like great fun since I'm a Scrabble nerd. I do NOT want an iPhone so that leaves me with Droids for this silly little game should I upgrade.

Verizon off and on has some "certified pre-owned" phones, and with the offers they keep throwing at me, I can pretty much get a fancy used Droid for $0.00.

Looking for feedback on if this is a good idea. All the google searches I've done have yielded standard "tow the company line" reviews. I want thoughts from REAL people....or you guys.

I got the original Motorola from Verizon shortly after it came out. Best phone I ever had. I usually would just use it for calls or texts, even when I had a Blackberry before but everything in this ran so smoothly to me. Still haven't had a problem and my contract will be up in the winter. I am fairly sure that I'm going to stick with an Android phone when my upgrade comes because of how happy I am with this one.

I probably don't do a bunch of the crazy stuff to give the best review. I just know I've had no problems, gotten some good free content off the Amdroid market and saved myself a lot of time with the free Google Maps GPS that comes installed.

The main downfall is probably the price for some. I'm sure you know, but all smart phones are an additional $30 a month, so it does add up to a significant amount more going to your wireless bill every month, especially if you end up with more than one smart phone on their bill.

That is a concern. My lady and I are on the same plan, and we MIGHT use 100 of our 700 monthly minutes. So it's almost a waste THEN the $60 for our (potential) 2 data plans.

It really depends on what you're going to use it for, and right now, your area comes into play too. I'm using the HTC Thunderbolt even though my area doesn't have 4G yet, and I love it. It's an Android phone of course, and it's one of their top of the line ones. It's HTC, so the build quality is solid.

It all boils down to what you really need and how much you're willing to add to your monthly bill, if anything. I'd just be careful about your upgrade even if you do, because if you're on an older plan, they're going to try and lock you into a newer one. That said, if you wanted to do data now, now's a good time because you'll be grandfathered in when they go to tiered pricing later this summer.

Got my Galaxy s3 last night. VERY impressed with it so far. It's nice being able to do what I want with my phone and not what some company (apple) says I can do with it. A button on my home screen so I can quickly turn blue tooth on and off? I CAN DO THAT! Flash video? I CAN FUCKING DO THAT FINALLY. Other things that use flash without having to purchase a paid app? YOU BET!

Very excited to keep messing with this thing and see what else it can do. I downloaded a dosbox app last night and got some old Sierra games running pretty well. Can't get the talky version of Leisure Suit Larry 6 to work, which is a shame, but the non talking one runs fine. And the talky version of King's Quest 6 runs just fine. Huzzah!
