Classic bands you feel you're supposed to like but can't get down with.

Ramones are the band I'm most embarrassed by not liking. There are like three songs on the self-titled that I love and I can't find anything else to grip onto.

I was just talking with somebody who never got into Sabbath. And a week ago, I ran into a metalhead friend that has the same opinion as DV did. I don't see it. I like Dio era Sabbath alright but I've never been huge into them outside of a few songs. Honestly, I listen to Born Again the most out of anything after the first four albums!

To answer the thread topic, I'd say The Smiths (and Morrissey's solo work). I don't dislike his voice but it's got this sort of detached quality to it that really bores me.

Kind of surprising is I was really, really into U2 when I was in high school and now I could care less about them. Not just a result of their new albums being mediocre but even their classic stuff doesn't do anything for me anymore. Exception, weirdly enough, is Zooropa.

I know someone else (possibly Incadenza) already made a post saying that The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Dark Side of the Moon are the only Pink Floyd album he's capable of enjoying, but I agree with that 100%. Everything else bores the shit out of me.

Black Sabbath with Ozzy on vocals. I like a few of their songs, and I get their influence, but give me Dio fronted Sabbath any day of the week.

This.

Ive never been able to get into The Clash, The Beatles, Led Zepplin or Pink Floyd either.

Two I'll never apologize for not liking much are AC/DC and Bob Dylan.

I can't get into Tom Petty. I don't necessarily get up and arms over his music on the radio, I just don't see the allure to his overall body of work.

Bob Dylan's one I like a few songs but can't get into all that much. Aerosmith is another band where I like a few of their songs but most of their output I just can't get into.

I like Tom Petty, but he seems like someone that would have a lot of people just kinda sorta like some songs here and there instead of just die hard fans

The Doors. A few of their songs are alright, but they mostly annoy me.

I've had a recurring problem since I started my current job in 2009 - I'd become sick of FM radio. Aerosmith, Van Halen, and AcDC were the three bands most affected. I can't say I dislike any of them, I'm just kinda...meh. I would say I liked-to-really-liked each of them at one point, too.

The Doors, however, I just kind of stopped listening to. Nothing prompted it at all.

Led Zeppelin.

I never cared for them outside a handful of songs and even still I do not go out of my way to listen to them.

I was really into Nirvana growing up, and credited Cobain as an inspiration to my guitar playing (even if it didn't take long for me to realize he wasn't all that good). But I watched a "Most Shocking Moments" special in college and heard a music writer say "Kurt Cobain wasn't a martyr. He was an asshole!" I never looked at Nirvana the same after that.

Not too far off. There's a few songs by him I absolutely love (nothing deep cut, just a couple of his hits), but I'll never say he's GOAT or even in discussion.

Pearl Jam. Maybe it's because he inspired every modern rock vocalist to have that affectation to put "-urrAAAH" at the end of several words (Creed example: "My Sacrifr-urrAAAH!", but everytime I've tried to sit down find out what the fuss is all about, Vedder's voice drives me away. They're considered one of the best rock bands of all time, but I just don't get it.

"Nirvana was overrated" is the most overrated rock crit meme.

Cobain wrote some pretty good songs. Don't care at all about the "voice of a generation" media-generated bullshit that too many people hold against the band.

Wait, so because some shitty comedian dissed KURT you jumped ship? You're just the kind of sellout that Cobain was railing against, brother.

Probably because there's some truth to it. I liked Bleach, loved Nevermind, but was ho-hum on In Utero. They only had the three studio albums. They're not an all time great band for me, but once Kurt killed himself everyone had to pretend like they were the best band ever.

Re: Tom Petty and Pearl Jam.

To me, Tome Petty is just kinda there (though I kinda hate the song "Free Fallinng"). It's generic dad rock, but there's far worst.

Pearl Jam I wouldn't mind if someone who wasn't Eddie Vedder was their frontman.

I really like Tom Petty but I'm having a hard time imagining why someone would feel so passionately about him one way or the other. It's just pleasant, meat and potatoes classic rock.

It's chill music, the kind you'd sing along to if some douche with a guitar at a party or a pub started playing and not feel too remorseful over.

Add Megadeth here. I've gone on a few rants about them, but outside of appreciating their technical abilities (all 3,472 rotating members) I don't give a shit
