Tool.

I love Aenima but outside of a few tracks on Undertow, I can't get into them. It's funny because all signs should point to me being a huge fan.

"Lateralus" is the only Tool album I like. The rest bores me, and "Aenima" is one of the most overrated albums of all time.

I loved the shit out of Aenima when I was 15, and still listened to Lateralus into my early college years. Agent was right on when he described Tool along the lines of being a gateway band to good prog and weird metal.

Tom Petty was my first ever concert in 94. I like a chunk of his music, but do not go out of my way to listen to him.

Pearl Jam I wouldn't mind if someone who wasn't Eddie Vedder was their frontman.

I mean, Vedder fired Pearl Jam's drummer because he was happy to be a rock star. What an asshole.

Lateralus is the only album by Tool I could listen through and not get bored by it these days. I don't think I've listen to Undertow at all since I saw Tool back in 09.

I was really into Nirvana growing up, and credited Cobain as an inspiration to my guitar playing (even if it didn't take long for me to realize he wasn't all that good). But I watched a "Most Shocking Moments" special in college and heard a music writer say "Kurt Cobain wasn't a martyr. He was an asshole!" I never looked at Nirvana the same after that.

Wait, so because some shitty comedian dissed KURT you jumped ship? You're just the kind of sellout that Cobain was railing against, brother.

It didn't turn me against the band, per se, but it did kind of enlighten me. And to be fair, I didn't just say "Yeah, he's right, fuck Nirvana" - my enjoyment of them eroded.

I really like Tom Petty but I'm having a hard time imagining why someone would feel so passionately about him one way or the other. It's just pleasant, meat and potatoes classic rock.

Bingo has been called. I certainly wouldn't say I don't like Tom Petty. He's just kind of....there.

I've also argued multiple times with my roomie whether or not Petty, in "The Last DJ", sounds like Bob Dylan.
