See we've been talking about Jeff Jarrett starting a third US promotion, when this whole time, he's thinking of starting a new promotion not in the United States of America but LATIN AMERICA!

The key with anything is TV/Streaming rights. It's not that there aren't promotions outside of WWE/AEW. But, without the money from TV/Streaming you aren't going to be able to pay the best talent. And without TV/Streaming you won't be any different from Impact, GCW, MLW or the returning ROH.

Unless you can get on a major TV network or a major streaming service (think Netflix, HBO Max level) it wouldn't be anything more than another niche promotion like the ones mentioned above.

Maybe I'm brainwashed from listening to his podcast and watching all of the '03 TNA but frig it---I do think going the Latin America route is a unique and potentially smart angle. It's an underserved market and the crowds there are always GD nuts when WWE runs house show tours. It's crazy enough to work! IT'S MY WORLD!

The last 605 pod was talking about how JJ's old buddy Bert Prentice earned a negative rep over time as he was so gung ho to promote shows and try and make some money that he would take money from random putz and generally lose it. JJ working money marks is just wrasslin'.

I mean even Gagne technically went this route by 1987. He promised guys roster spots if they would pay their way to Vegas and only run sold shows where Verne knew how much was coming in. There are certainly some very random spot shows in the results in 87/88. Meanwhile, I believe Jarrett's dad actually cut back on Memphis touring towns (while later expanding in 88 when he bought into WCCW).

I haven't actually watched recent GCW so @Big Beard Booty Daddy or @HSJ can correct me if I have the wrong assessment but from watching clips, Jeff Jarrett in GCW is like "What if we had Double J act like 2002 Undertaker while dressing like 1992 Undertaker?" AND IT ROCKS.

I haven't actually watched recent GCW so @Big Beard Booty Daddy or @HSJ can correct me if I have the wrong assessment but from watching clips, Jeff Jarrett in GCW is like "What if we had Double J act like 2002 Undertaker while dressing like 1992 Undertaker?" AND IT ROCKS.

I’ve never been much of a Jarrett fan, so I wasn’t someone who was excited about him coming in. He hit EFFY and then Allie with a guitar, and I still don’t care about him. This isn’t anything like the way GCW is using Cardona, which has been tremendous. I actually hate the idea that Jarrett is getting a spot on the Hammerstein card over any number of GCW talent that still don’t have a match announced.

Jarrett is an amazing guy, a good vet to come in and one of those “it’s so wacky it works” type of deals GCW can pull off.

GCW Stans don't want to hear it but fact of the matter is that Southern Goth Dad Jeff Jarrett has more appeal to casual fans than almost their entire roster.


Now I know the GCW Stans will be like "Well, they sold out the show before anybody was officially announced! Why do they need to appeal to casuals?" Idk how to explain it but sometimes the people who help get you to the big dance aren't the best people to perform on it, you dig? Speaking as a casual GCW fan, probably the biggest deterrent to me being a regular follower is most of the GCW regulars/favorites.

I totally get why Jarrett is there, and don't have much of an issue bringing him, or anyone else in. I've just cared much for him.

@King Kamala Holidays is right though. There are a lot of old school GCW fans, especially the ones from the days when they were an all deathmatch company, that just shit on anything they do now.

I'm very thankful for the numerous promotions that have popped up over the last three years but yeah, the market is starting to overcrowd. We don't need this.

On paper, a promotion starring Braun, Killer Kross, and Matt Cardona seems a viable option for #3 promotion then you see it's an EC3 vanity product based on the cinematic match craze and hooooooooo boy....who is this for!?
