Freddie is the one I don't see being a real player. The novelty will wear off as soon as it starts and I don't think he gets the name talent initially to make it work as well as people think, if this even comes to fruition and "I have backers" isn't just being the built in excuse as to why nothing happens.

Conrad's just carny enough to make something work. I'm serious when I say he could make a Heroes Of Wrestling thing work, should he desire. Today's olds are better than yesterday's olds, and he's somehow persuasive.

This is turning into the defending Freddie Prinze Jr thread but I think he's very careful to avoid the same pitfalls that led to his father's earlier death so I'd imagine he's been pretty good with his money. Fact that he's been doing mostly passion projects for the past 15 years seems to support that?

Also he probably makes BANK off those Scooby Doo residuals.

I'd love his Summer Catch residuals to make a decent promotion but I don't buy it and won't until it happens. He's by far, out of the three names in the title, the least likely. He'll be a better looking Jeff Katz at best.

See I kind of agree but for different reasons. I think his pragmatism is probably what's going to cause him to hesitate not his naivete. He has a much much better sense of the general TV and film industry/landscape than Conrad or Double J but that also means he knows what doesn't work. I think eventually, he might just be like "Eh. This is a money vacuum. Time to make more dish detergent commercials with the wife." after he realizes how much of a headache he's inducing.

The second paragraph is certainly true. The guys that are 45-55 now certainly have a lot more in them with, well advancements in all areas needed to be a professional wrestler.

I'm not even sure if naivete is the right word in some cases. Like I think there's definitely factors he has not considered but I don't think he's just as prepared as people want him to be. I don't know if he's thought out much beyond "I want to run a wrestling promotion" and everything he's said at most feels like saying what everyone who wants to start a new promotion says. I don't doubt he loves the business but I don't know if running a company is just what he's meant for, if he wants to be in the business.

I think you're underestimating his level of experience. He worked with WWE for a few years. He probably has more hands on experience than Tony Khan did before he started AEW.

Oh of course. We had the same experience as Tony Khan before AEW. But with that said experience doesn't necessarily mean the right course of action is running a promotion. A few years on creative under Vince while also being a lifelong fan is a total double-edged sword when it comes to seeing how a company is run and how booking should be approached. TK just kind of hit the ground running and is so far kind of an anomaly given how he went from being called Cody's money mark to modern booking genius (and his own money mark). Freddie also might be just too good a guy to succeed in wrestling.

I honestly would be happiest if Tony Khan brought on Freddie Prinze Jr to be a creative consultant for AEW. Freddie does seem like too nice of a guy to jostle with Triple H and Tony but I feel like he could be a strong consigliere.

CYN's website has no upcoming shows, though Franklin Music Hall still lists it and sells tickets. It would truly be a tragedy if CYN was not given an opportunity to hilariously fail.

Nevermind, I found the correct website. But their tickets link sends you to AXS where the three shows listed are shown as cancelled. So who knows?

afaik, they're still supposed to go on a fall tour next month. Their website just sucks.

Hmm. December 2nd in Green Bay. Should we chip in money to get @BruiserBrody into the Rant Room with Austin Aries?

(cut to Brody awkwardly standing silently in a room with Austin Aries, trying to remember who Austin Aries is or if he should just ask him if he is an AWA fan)

They don't have a Twitter either which is where indies predominantly promote their shows and lineups. Their founder EC3 hasn't Tweeted since April.

And it does look like their tour schedule was scrubbed off the website and a quick Google search shows their Houston show was canceled. Sorry @Broward83

Maybe Aaron Rodgers can be a special guest ref.

So did they ever air ANY of their other shows on whatever website they had them? I thought they did a TV taping (I think this was the first or second one) Mania weekend in Dallas and I really hadnt heard if any of that content even aired?

Reminds me slightly of how Global Force did those tapings in Vegas (I was at one of them but fuck if I remember hardly anything from it other than Chael Sonnen cutting a promo) and then really never fully aired them other than maybe a lame duck ppv that nobody hardly got (and then the masters apparently got digitally deleted by Impact?)

To say I am not impressed with the CYN faction they brought into the NWA too is an understatement. At least at the ppv and the taping after, that sure didn't seem to connect well.

Lol he just got busted lying about the Tyson Fury thing

- There were reports that emerged that WWE had meant to cut away from the post-match appearance of Tyson Fury at Clash at the Castle, where he and Drew McIntyre sang "American Pie." We've been told by sources close to production that is false, and that was always planned.
