Today, I had 282 Protein; 38 Fat; 48 Carb for a total of 1,605 Calories.

Eating 1,600 and just under has been surprisingly easy considering a typical day when not on my nutritional plan would probably be closer to 2,600 or more most days.

Since I focus so much on high-fiber with my cholesterol issues, I'll never get to that level of protein at that calorie count.

My breakfast is normally like 18g of fiber, ~90 carbs, and 600 calories (tbf, 1/3 of those are just peanut butter) by itself. I tend to eat pretty high protein lunches (probably way too much tinned and packaged fish) and very high protein dinners and the most I've ever eaten in one day was about 180g. Admittedly, I let my wife go buck wild at dinner in regards to fat (heavy cream, olive oil, butter, all the fun stuff) and I nearly always eat some sort of dessert (~250 calories).

So far, I've been having great results, so no need to change, but I'm interested in seeing if I'll eventually need to make any adjustments.

Yesterday was a pretty normal day for me. 145g protein, 62g fat, 248g carbs (43g fiber) at 1990 calories. I didn't have any alcohol, which is usually where the extra ~200 calories come from.

Also, I have decided to tweak my intermittent fasting and work in one 24 hour period per month of water only. This could be a situation where I finish a day eating in the evening and not eating until the next evening, or wake up with a good breakfast and then not eat until the following morning. I’m not sure which will feel better. I am doing this just as much for blood sugar levels as much as continuing my weight loss and diet.

I have until 9:15pm EST tonight to have nothing but water for my February attempt. Depending on how I feel at that point, I may just try to not eat until I go to sleep and work in another 8+ hours.

And sort of related to only having a can of grape pop for the day:

I have started mixing in some fasting into my nutritional plan. I had been doing intermittent fasting (IF) previously just by eating an early dinner and skipping breakfast the next day to try and do 16 - 18 hours of fasting. But recently I have been reading up on extended fasts and the benefits of handled correctly. I decided the extreme fasts were not for me (and my muscle wasting disease), but a 24 hour fast once a month could be great. I did one last weekend the day before the Super Bowl and I have another one ending at 5:45pm today.

If you haven’t read up on fasting, your body begins using fat for energy at 12 hours in and kicks it into high gear at 18 hours in. So I had been juuuuust missing out on the higher rate of fat burning with previous IF. Autophagy kicks in during some of this time period as well. Clearer skin; lower glucose levels; and many more benefits have been touted by occasional lengthier fasts.

I feel like your mileage may vary on the fasting. I know the alleged scientific benefits from it, but I've done it before and didn't really feel a difference. I also have absurd metabolism, so it may work differently for people who aren't constantly driven tofind their next meal like some starving Neanderthal.

Excellent point on metabolism. I have read that the fasting will change your metabolism but I believe that is for extended fasting and/or frequent. I think my occasional 24 hour fast will not change metabolism, but my body seems to be very fine with 16/8 fasting/feeding schedules already.

I was 210.0 waking up on 3/1 and 209.2 waking up on 3/2. I am counting that as reaching my goal with some Schrodinger’s Cat mental gymnastics.

I was going to wait until 5/1 for the official check-in date, but I already dipped below 200.0 starting on 4/13 with a 199.2 weight. Since then it has fluctuated Over and below the 200 mark but I am confident I will remain below 200 to hit that goal on 5/1.

I stated this before, but I had not been below 200 since my senior year of high school during basketball season. I graduated in 1997.

The march to 195.0 on 5/28 continues.

Good luck, Dandy! And you can do it, Tek!

I've felt much healthier since shifting to more protein (fewer-ish carbs) and limiting the sugar (haven't quite cut it out completely though). I'm up to 122 pounds, which doesn't sound like much, but I had dropped down to 112 last July so I've gained 10 pounds in 9 months while still working out/keeping myself lean and more muscle than fat.

I don't try to fast but I've never really been a breakfast person so often I'll go from 6 PM to 10-11 AM in terms of not really eating anything. If drinking milk was the equivalent to eating though, I'd be like 350 pounds :\

112 lbs?!? That reminds me of my photo of @DCH, which I would search and post if @tekcop had not taken our search function from us in a vulgar display of power.

I've only had three sodas in the past week, which is good for me. Getting back on the horse, eating-wise, too.
I had three sodas last night

I've been eating insane amounts of food, but the junk food diet (I told @Brooklyn Zoo about this a few years back but he never followed through) works if you work out a lot, which I do. The amount of food I have some nights is pretty obscene.

Damn, three! I actually drank a Red Bull this morning -- my first since... Good Friday?! I've also noticed that my acid reflux is much better when I don't drink sodas or energy drinks. I've been really solid with working out the past couple of weeks and feel really good. Weight isn't really an issue for me, it's keeping the flab off (although most would scoff at the idea of a 6', 165 lb person complaining of "flab").

Damn son. I'm trying to cut back on sodas and drink over 60 oz of water day, but it's tough sometimes.

I can't do that diet cause I don't want to work out a lot. But I'm glad it's working out for you, that's the best of both worlds.

I’m the same with the flab comment, we have similar frames. I never drink energy drinks though, that shit fucks with the heart too much

Do you work out at all? Do you still play basketball?

198.6 this morning before going to the bathroom. My lowest weight last week was 197.0 but yesterday was a day with a cheat meal and I was confident I would still be substantially lower than 200.0 today to hit my goal.

Next goal is 195.0 by 5/28 and I think I will be able to cruise to that even though I have an out of town work trip that always makes it hard to eat when I need to.

I had some problems getting into my work slacks yesterday so I need to get the ball rolling on dieting appropriately. My main problem is carbs and I have no sense of portion control.
