Just decided throw a random discussion topic out there. What is the first game you remember beating?

For me, it was the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers game for the SNES. I remember getting it for Christmas and beating it that day. I was quite proud of myself at the time, not knowing it happens to be one of the simplest games of all time.

The first super mario bros is the first one I can remember beating. Me and my brother used to either beat the TMNT Manhattan Project game on the NES, or have our NES die as we got close to the end of the game.

It had to be either Super Mario Bros., Kung Fu or Gumshoe as they were the first games I got with my NES. Most likely Kung Fu since it's the easier of the 3. Gumshoe was a fuckin bitch at times!

Final Fantasy II on the SNES (that was actually IV).

And when I say beat, I mastered every damn thing in the game. Got all the extra summons, the pink tail, every weapon, everything.

I had beaten games before that, but that was the first game I actually tried to beat until nothing else could be beaten.

Its also the only game I've beaten like 100 times.

First game I remember seeing/playing on a home console was Treasure Island on the C64.

First game I owned personally was Sonic The Hedgehog on Mega Drive closely followed by Taz-Mania which I got the same day.

Oh man, I stayed up for like 3 days straight in college skipping classes and shit to get that damn pink tail.
For a game I owned, SMB1 was the first I beat. Before that, I'm sure I beat some arcade games that you can just quarter pump but I don't remember. Double Dragon maybe?

I honestly don't remember what the first game I beat was. I don't think it was Super Mario Brothers because I remember not being able to beat 8-3 forever, and then just beating it one night and staying up all night and beating it several times in a row. But I had to have beaten games before that. This will take some thought.

MK1, I was 6 or 7 years old and first played it on the Genesis. Beat it with Sonya Blade.

I'm not sure which one it was.. but I know it was one of these three: Super Mario Bros, Ghosts N Goblins or Kung Fu on NES.

Though, my first EPIC game completion was Zelda.

Double Dragon for the Sega Master System.

I had a SMS when I was a youngster. My first bunch of beaten games were Wonderboy, Wonderboy in Monster Land, Shinobi, Alex Kidd in Hi-Tech World

Double Dragon was also the first game I finished in the arcade.

This one took a while to find an answer. I played a ton of NES games, but I was never too good at them. I was 6 when the SNES came out, the majority of my NES playing days was before that. Most of the games I owned were too hard for a 5 year old me, SMB1 & 3, Adventure Island, Battletoads, Ghosts 'n Goblins, and Faxandu are games I specifically remember owning and never beating until I was much older. The 3 earliest games I remember beating are Double Dragon 2 and Mega Man 4 for the NES and Super Mario World for the SNES. I owned the first two before SMW, but I was incredibly addicted to my SNES and its only game. I played it so much that I finished it relatively quickly. It's possible that I finished it before going back and beating them later. So, definitely one of those three, but I have no idea which one.

I've determined that it was probably either Mario 2 or Zelda 2. If it's not one of those two then it's probably Crystalis or Dragon Warrior.

Super Mario Bros. Some guy that worked at a car dealership with an aunt of mine had to write down the directions through the last castle for me.

The first one I can remember is the first Sonic game on Genesis. I feel like there must have been something before that as I had a ton of NES games already, but I can't come up with anything that stands out.

I honestly can't remember, though I do remember spending hours trying to get the final % to complete Super Mario World on the SNES.

...Just realised I missed the point of this thread...

It was either Golden Axe or Streets of Rage on my friends Mega Drive. On my own, it was either Sonic or The Terminator (which was only 4 levels long).

I think the first game I beat was Street Fighter II with Chun-Li in the arcade. I came within a hairsbreadth of beating Karate Champ in 1984, the first console game I beat I think was Shining Force.

I'm pretty sure the first console game I ever finished was the original Super Mario Bros. My Dad and I used to play it to death.I received Skate or Die for Christmas the same year, but I don't think I ever finished everything. I too think Abadox may have been the second game I beat, but while using the infinite lives code. Damn Mike, you'd think we grew up in the same neighborhood or something.

When I saved my money for MONTHS to buy my first SNES, which came with Super Mario World, I beat the hell out of that game, all star world levels, even the ultra-hard secondary star world levels in less than a week. For a 10 year old, this was quite an achievement.

Those were among the first games I beat as well. Kung Fu was the easier of the two. An earlier game that I beat was also the Legend of Zelda. That game still holds up quite well to this day.
