My first gaming system was an Atari 3200, and fucked if I remember actually beating any of those. Can you win at Joust or does it keep going on forever? I distinctly remember pumping a ton of money into the Simpsons Arcade game with three other guys at a birthday party held at Alladdin's Castle and conquering that motherfucker.

Also, I beat the primary Super Mario Bros. games in this order:

Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario World
Super Mario Bros. 2 (many years later)

I played the original Legend of Zelda a few months back. New games must be watering down my skills because I honestly don't remember the game being this hard.

I don't even remember what game I beat first. It was a while after I started playing, I know that much. I always played a lot of sports games that have no official ending, so it's possible I didn't finish a game until SMRPG/FF3 on the SNES.

I remember getting stuck on the big rock dude on the first Megaman, didn't know the pause trick...then I heard about the pause trick and it was ON!

Controls have gotten so refined and we're so used to having 8 buttons to do a variety of actions it really does feel hampering when you go back to only two damn buttons to operate with!

Has anyone here beaten Street Fighter 2010? Based on a recent emulation play, I can't do fucking shit in this game. I don't remember it being this hard at all...though I didn't beat it back in the day, I got farther than THIS!

I might be wrong, but I think it was Super Mario World on SNES. I too have a hard time remembering which games I beat back in the day.

I have absolutely no recollection of the first game I beat. Probably Double Dragon, as that was my first NES game. I remember the day I got my NES and playing Double Dragon/Mario for days at a time exactly, though.

After having played the hell out of the Double Dragon arcade game, I was tremendously let down with the NES version.

That's for damn sure. I have a magazine around here with a back cover featuring several side-by-side screen shots.

Aladdin for the SNES.

This is the first one I can remember. I very rarely beat games. I suck at figuring out what to do and I usually give up on hard levels pretty quickly. I've probably owned 60-70 video games and I've beaten maybe 10.

I'm gonna go with Super Mario Bros. or TMNT II. I don't specifically remember beating the latter--or TMNT III, for that matter--or their endings, but I feel like I must have, given how much I played them. I know I saw that princess after that fire-breathing, bouncing, hammer-spamming motherfucker, though.

I do know I never beat SMB3 without a Game Genie. And never got all that far without Warp Whistles, either.

I think I did beat Mega Man 4 once. Possibly with a password to pass all the main stages, though. I tried playing it again more recently on a Collection disc. Damn thing kicked my shit. I'm gonna blame the Xbox controller and its D-Pad. But I know I just suck.

First one I fully completed was probably Super Mario World. 96 star, baby! (That one level with a 200 timer was a beast.) That, or Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, with copious guide use for heart pieces, of course. Probably did the same for Super Metroid.

I'm pretty sure it was Mega Man 2. That or TMNT 2. I don't specifically recall the first time I beat MM2, but I do have a very vivid memory of figuring out Crash Man's pattern, beating him, then running around yelling in excitement because he was the first boss I'd managed to beat.

I also remember beating TMNT 2 vividly, but I'm not sure if that would have been before or after MM2. The worst part was, I was playing by myself, so no one could attest to my victory.

I can't remember for sure but I'm pretty sure it wads either Bionic Commando or Duck Tales.

I do remember getting one of the early Megaman games and Mario 3 taken from me because I threw a big fit because I couldn't beat them.

SMB 2 for me.

I was the first out of my cousins around my age to get to Mike Tyson in Punch Out! as well, only to get summarily owned, but it was a thing of beauty beating Super Macho Man as an 8 year old.
