I know the nostalgic game player in me wants this, but the realist remembers I hate arcade ports since I suck at them. I need console versions with added options and extended fatality time.

I remember playing either MK II or 3 on Midway Treasures and having the computer wipe the floor with me. Not Kintaro or Shao Khan or the 6th guy up the ladder, I mean the first person you fight.

I played about 5 minutes of the original this morning before the guys came to change my TV and Internet (Much faster and better all around now) and I forgot how little time you have to do the fatalities. The new MK spoiled me.

I kind of appreciate how NetherRealm kept the old arcade standard of making the final bosses complete cheap assholes in MK9. It took me like 7 tries to beat Shao Kahn on Easy.

You need to spam projectiles like hell. All of the bosses have the bullshit ability to "absorb" a shot so fighting up close is a complete crap shoot.

I couldn't be Raiden in MK II. I tried and I tried. The good news is that I probably broke even on this game with the amount of continues I used. I've changed the difficulty level but I haven't played with the settings yet.

Shao Kahn will win any projectile war. If you don't know your character's goto combos to win the war of attrition you'll surely face (i.e. Reptile's 1, 2, 2, Ball, 3, 2, Ball, 3, 2, 1, Slide), try to use your distances, and notice Shao Kahn always does the same things at specific distances.

Not true, at least on the lower difficulties. I wanted to see all the endings but I suck, so to beat him with every character I'd just pick a projectile attack, keep as much distance as possible, and spam the fuck out of it. Sometimes he'll throw his spear and you have to duck, but most of the time he'll do something stupid like start a taunt after you hit him with one so you just keep doing it.

That was my experience. I suck too much to try the higher difficulties.

I'm in Camp Projectile. Like Smues I can't speak for higher difficulties, but as the guy playing on the easiest difficulty just to get all the endings, going to the edge of the screen and letting him laugh and laugh and laugh as you spammed him worked wonders. I had problems with non-projectile fighters.

BTW, did one of the patches or updates or packs nerf the X-Ray attacks? I noticed when I was getting the endings for the DLC characters, they weren't as powerful as I remembered.

Shao Khan isn't hard unless he spams the sledgehammer throw while your dizzy.

I finished MK1 and unlocked the achievement for it. I beat UMK and got nothing.

Only thing I don't like about this game so far is that you can't skip through the cut scenes. I watch them once but when you save and exit, you have to sit through them again.
