I'm sure there is a far more clever title to be had...

Anyway, with football coming up, I figured we'd start a thread for our fantasy talk, that way it isn't clogging up the main football threads.

I have the number 1 overall pick in my money league, 12 team ppr(.5 point) otherwise ESPN standard league. I've narrowed the list down to Vick, ADP, and Rice. Vick is very risk/reward, ADP is the safe choice, and Rice ebcause I think he has a lot of upside this year, plus I think there is a lot of QB value this year(Josh Freeman, in particular.) So...I'm conflicted.

For shits and giggles, this is ESPN's projected top ten picks:
1)Adrian Peterson
2)Arian Foster
3)Chris Johnson
4)Jammal Charles
5)Maurice Jones-Drew
6)Ray Rice
7)Aaron Rodgers
8)Lesean McCoy
9)Andre Johnson
10)Mike Vick

Eh on Vick. You can probably get Brady or Brees or Rivers when the draft comes back around to you. I have a hard time picking anything but an RB at number 1.

Should I trade Aaron Rodgers for Drew Brees and Ben Jarvis-Green-Ellis-Island-Ice-Tea?

Brees is still going to be Brees, and Law Firm is still the #1 in NE's RBBC (an RB #2 if you've got 2 RB positions).

It depends on if a RB would help you. If Law Firm helps you, make the trade. If this is just for the sake of making a trade, then don't do it.

I'd do it, Brees and Rodgers kind of equal out, and BJGE should get the lion's share of NE's RBBC carries

This is tough. I don't really NEED another RB (I have Ryan Matthews, Shonn Greene, Daniel Thomas, and Brandon Jacobs). I think The first two will have great years, and Thomas will get the most carries. I only need two backs. I rate Rodgers higher than Brees, but it is close. Thanks for the responses.

EDIT: I don't think it's a keeper league.

Don't be so sure about Matthews and Greene, or Jacobs. Thomas is a rookie as well, and rookies missed out on a lot of training because of the holdout, so I'd be really wary of all of them in all non-keeper league formats. How many RB slots do you have?

Matthews isn't having a great camp so far. He will probably share a lot of carries with Mike Tolbert. Id sell high on him.

Well, my TRTSM team is looking stellar so far:

Johnny Knox: Inexplicably not starting over Devin Hester or Roy Williams
Emmanuel Sanders: Still injured (to be fair, I knew that when I drafted him, but he needs to get his ass back on the field soon before he finds himself a couple slots lower on the depth chart)
Ryan Williams: Carted off the field tonight with an apparent serious knee injury.
Rex Grossman: Was only gonna be a bye week fill-in anyways, but it's kinda annoying to see him losing a battle with John Beck.
Tashard Choice: For some reason, he never seems to get any run in Dallas.

Just waiting on the annual Kellen Winslow injury and the career-ending concussion for Austin Collie now.

I just did my first draft of the fantasy season, a 10 team(fuckin hate 10 team leagues) PPR league with a ridiculously deep bench. Starters are QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR/RB, TE, K and DEF, and there's EIGHT bench spots. My team:

QBs: Freeman and Fitzpatrick
WRs: Megatron, Austin, Maclin (now with 98% less aids!), Boldin, Sims-Walker, Mike Thomas and Plax
RBs: McCoy, Hillis, Fred Jackson, Bush and Hightower
TE: Owen Daniels
K: Josh Brown
DEF: SD

My main concern is QBs. Probably gonna have to trade away one of my receivers to get a better backup.

Drop Fitzy and get COLT DA'BOLT~

I'm trying to decided between ADP and Foster for number 1 overall in a 12 team ppr league. Ugh, hate this spot.

In a PPR league I would go with Foster there, but I hate drafting 1st as well. I like drafting near the top, but not #1.

I like that team, even though it's quite questionable at the receivers. A lot hinges on your IDP scoring, too; if it emphasizes sacks, Matthews and Hali are a very nice pair. If it's only, say, 2 points for sacks compared to 1 point for tackles, rush OLBs take a big hit and will probably finish outside the top 30-35 LBs.

Ringo, that's a pretty good team. How large is the league?

I've got a question mark in my 14-team keeper. The short of it is that we can deal from our rosters for the previous year before declaring our keepers, and I have enough sweet dudes to trade some and move up in picks a bit. A guy who needs another keeper is willing to swap first and second rounds picks if I give him Steven Jackson. This'd move me to 1.03 and 2.11, whereas right now I've got 1.14/2.01. 1.03 gets me Bradshaw, Hillis, Wallace, or Vincent Jackson guaranteed, but I also like the idea of getting two more players in the first 15 picks.

Guaranteed winner, or two back-to-back?

I assume you already tried the counter-offer of just trading first round picks?

That was actually my initial offer. His was the counter. I'm meh on it.

I ended up making a different trade that moved my 4th round pick up about 30 spots, so life again moves on happily.
