Jay-Z - Doggystyle is obviously a fantastic album but I've never even listened to another Snoop disc more than once. Jay-Z's the best rapper left, imo.

The Notorious B.I.G - 2pac is seriously the most turgid rapper to ever be considered great. The last year or so of his career has some nice beats but Christ his voice/lyrical form wasn't interesting enough to overcome the shitty production he was hampered w/ before he joined Death Row.

I'm going with Snoop Dogg and 2Pac.

I'm just not a Jay-Z fan, and Snoop Dogg has been in a lot of awesome songs, even if he doesn't have multiple GREAT albums.

2Pac was a G. He had some good messages in his songs, even if he didn't exactly follow through. But he inspired a lot of rappers, and IMO there isn't anyone like him.

Everyone voting Pac over Biggie is literally a retard baby. Way to share JAxlMorrison's taste in rap, guys.

Snoop has done great songs, Jay-Z has done great albums.
Pac was great. Great songs, great messages, talent taken too soon. But Biggie just changed rap for the better. He, with the help of Diddy, made the hybrid style of gangsta rap/mainstream pop rap into one cash minting sub-genre that seems to still be done to this day.

Anyone who takes BIG over Pac is dumb as balls.

If you vote for Pac you are implicitly endorsing Cowboy#s's taste in music. Think about it.

What the fuck is wrong with you guys taking Pac over Biggie? He was more iconic but as a rapper it was all style over substance.

PAC n Snoop

Biggie is lionized because of one great album. No one could even touch PAC from 93 until he died. Me Against the World, All Eyez on Me and Seven Day Theory trio is best in rap music history. And saying that Biggie of all people has more substance is so wrong.

Fuck Jay Z. Snoop hasn't been motivated since 1995 or so and he is still better than Jay Z. Jay is rap for white boys that want to impress their black friends. Blacks haven't liked Jay Z in ten years.

Biggie released one great album. aw fuck yeah snoop dogg the GOAT

Hov over Snoop was actually a really tough choice for me. I love Snoop Dogg to death. He's only released one great album, sure, but he's been part of countless great songs, including the best song on The Chronic, which is another classic album. His style is legendary, his voice is immediately recognizable, and he might be the coolest motherfucker on the planet. But Jay-Z has two five-mic classics and a standout in The Black Album that we'd look back on more fondly if he actually, you know, retired. I love Blueprint and Doggystyle more or less equally, I just went with Jigga because he has a lot of lows on his resume, but he has more highs than Snoop does.

Pac over Biggie? More or less a coin flip. I'm just relieved this wasn't the matchup in the finals. Pac has a greater body of work, but Biggie's two albums recorded in his lifetime are both classic. Pac's "MLK giving a speech" flow vs. Biggie's bouncy jazz singer flow. It's a hard choice. I basically went with Pac because I heard him first and liked him first. Perhaps Byron will learn to appreciate Pac when they dig up another unreleased verse and stick it on a remix of "Bustin' At Em" or something.

How could anyone use the substance over style argument to argue BIG over Pac? BIG had better flow but lyrically Pac was in another universe. It's actually the other way around - BIG is style, Pac is substance.

You mean b/c his music tackled 'real issues' etc? His lyrics were about as obvious and surface-level as political rap could possibly get. As a writer Biggie had a lot more depth, regardless of what he was rapping about.
