"Boulevard" and "21 Guns" are both slow, but not acoustic. "21st Century Breakdown" deserves to be the next single; should have been the first. "Viva la Gloria!" definitely needs to be a single. Same with "Before the Lobotomy". I could also see a "Last of the American Girls/Murder City" combo. Gah, too many good songs.

What? Viva La Gloria is awful. Unless your talking about ¿Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl), because that song is probably my favorite off this album.

I've been a Green Day fan since I first really got into music. Dookie was the first CD I ever owned, but this album... eh. It all felt like just background noise to me. In that I mean, outside of one or two tracks (VLV/LG and 21 guns) nothing on the album stands out and makes me go "wow, thats a sweet song."

Sad, really.

No, track 4. I don't think "Little Girl" is too great. It's not bad, but VLG is a spectacular song.

After giving the album a few solid listens I have to admit it's a pretty decent pop record. Nothing particularly special, but definitely enough good moments that it was worth stealing off the internet. "Peacemaker" and "Little Girl" are probably my favorite tracks, and "21 Guns" is kind of growing on me despite its slavish devotion to the formula™. My only real beef is the whole top-heavy concept album conceit, which I thought was a blatant and unnecessary attempt to cash in on "American Idiot" one more time. This three-act shit is beyond pretentious.

Hey, I just noticed that the album cover/title are a not so subtle nod to the 2005 re-release of Elgin Avenue Breakdown

Which is kind of weird, because if you're going to copy why not do it from the original source, rather than a re-issue from 4 years ago?

Other than they both make use of graffiti, they're nothing alike.

It isn’t impossible that one was inspired by the other, but the similarities are superficial.
