Your assessment of Klosterman is spot on, BUTT but at least, he made semi-intelligent hair metal fans feel a little bit better about themselves and that might be worth something.

I think Firehouse and Trixter were probably the most notable bands (hair metal wise) to come out of the '80s that didn't really come out of the '80s.

I didn't know Lifehouse even had any songs other than "Hanging by a Moment," which was a really good song. It's in the discussion for the highest achievement of late '90s vanilla pseudoalternative with "Semi-Charmed Life" and "Black Balloon."

"Hanging by a Moment" is a great song of the '90s that didn't actually came out in the '90s! It was '00, Czech! They had another big hit like three years ago. I just remember being surprised that they were still together at that point.

Looking at their wikipedia entry, their follow up album to the one that had "Hanging by a Moment" had one of the worst album titles this side of You Can Tune a Piano but You Can't Tuna Fish, Stanley Climbfall. What the hell is that shit?

Lately, I've been listening to Ke$ha since she was on The Tonight Show. It's nowhere near Ashlee Simpson levels of guilty pleasure, but still...

I heard my first Ke$ha song on the Howard Stern show last week and I thought it was Uffie. Sounded exactly the same.

I would put Bad Romance down as a current guilty pleasure, also heard for the first time on the Stern show though apparently it's months old as a single

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

that's probably my biggest guilty pleasure of the last 5 years or so, but I don't actually feel too guilty about it, because it seems to be exempted by the "I don't really like this crap but I know good pop when I hear it" indie cred excuse

Oh, there's also

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

That one I'm still legitimately guilty about

I'm rather fond of mid-90's one-hit-wonder Shawn Colvin's "Sunny Came Home". Liked that one from the first time I ever heard it.

Loved that song but it's no "You Only Get What You Give" (I see butt already brought New Radicals up)

The Desire videos pretty much made me go buy the Creed album that had My Sacrifice on it. Couldn't get it out of my head for the life of me.

Don't Stop Believin by the GLEE cast. I've never seen the show and don't know if I want to but damn they do a good job with the Journey song. It's catchy as hell.

Oh and the Shots song by LMFAO. It's grown on me.
