Story from pwtorch today claiming Brock hated Cena when they were on SD together, and purposefully made him look bad in their match at Backlash 03

pfft Brock hated everyone not named Sable, Shelton Benjamin, and A-Train back then.

Heyman.

I figure Summerslam, Royal Rumble & Elimination Chamber are musts as well.

Cena/Brock
Cena/Brock - Last Man Standing Match
Cena/Brock - "I Quit!" Match
Cena/Brock - Steel Cage Match
Cena/Brock - No Disqualification Match
Cena/Brock - Hell In A Cell Match
Cena/Brock - Submission Match
Cena/Brock - Chamber Of Horrors Match

"Friend of an Era" elimination tag match at Survivor Series - Cena and his current pals (Truth/Kofi/Santino/Ryder) vs. Brock's old pal squadron (Show/Tensai/Shelton Benjamin/Tajiri for some reason).

Any chance they try to run the first match of Cena-Brock at Extreme Rules to try to pop a big PPV number right after Mania? Or are they going to wait until the summer?

Wouldn't surprise me if they try to go ahead and push a big match like that without a lot of time to build it up. Though, I could see them feeding Lesnar someone more like Kofi of Dolph, depending on if they're going to try to use him as a heel or a face. Dolph vs Brock would probably be phenomenal from a work rate perspective. Could you imagine Dolph bumping for the F5?

Aside from wondering if Brock still has the raw power he used to, I'm curious if he's going to keep his power/technical style he used to employ. I could see him going the route of Undertaker, and combining his Suplex skills with a bit of MMA striking and takedowns.

I'd prefer he add some MMA flavor to it. It'd at least make him stand out beyond the fact that he's huge, strong, and fast as hell. I also like some of the MMA-infused matches and workers from the past decade (I find LowKi vs. Bryan Danielson from the first ROH Round Robin Challenge to be fantastic because of the opening half alone, and also found the Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe LockDown '08 bout to be stellar).

Always thought Brock vs Test from the 2002 King of the Ring was a fun match. Test KILLS Brock with his boot towards the end, and Heyman is in full cheerleader mode! Only complaint I really have is Heyman slaps Test on the back at one point towards the end, and Test acts like he's been hit by a missile.

WWE - Test vs Brock Lesnar

Not only is the Lesnar vs Benoit match from late 2003 unbelievable, but HOLY SHIT at the leg lock at the end.

Brock Lesnar Vs Chris Benoit, SD! 12/04/2003

YES!!! THE BROCKLOCK!!!

Also, anybody else remember the uproar over Benoit going to Raw after winning the Rumble rather than aiming for revenge on Brock? It all worked out for WrestleMania XX, of course, but I recall the initial reaction was that it was bullshit he was going to get lost in the never-ending HHH/HBK feud rather than stand out in an awesome rematch with Lesnar.

WWE.com has named five superstars who may be able to stand toe-to-toe with Brock. Guess them lol

BIG SHOW
SHEAMUS
ORTON
KANE
HENRY

Sex pest connection aside, I still have the feels for Brock as he was perhaps the 1st guy I followed from signing, saw a live dark match of, and celebrated as he rocketed to success on the main stage. Plus he's a midwest farm boy.

I lost my shit for basically all his MMA fights. Other than the LA Coliseum debacle, I believe I saw all the rest live (on the net, PPV, whatever)

I feel the same way, and now I really don't need to check the results of any of these shows anymore

Me too. After I got tired of Austin in 2003, Brock was my guy in WWE. I chose my TSM username over a move the guy did in his first run. He still had an it factor that other main event guys like Roman or Orton or HHH or even Cena imo didn't have. And I do think the guy has some surprisingly good matches during his late period run with long hair. The Last Man Standing with Roman at Summerslam is awesome and I liked one of those Cody matches (I think the one at Summerslam).

Props to Brock for getting every dollar he could out of WWE. Can’t even hate that.

He was also my guy in 2002–2003, and I was gutted when he left out of the blue in 2004. It was cool seeing him go succeed outside WWE.

His 2012–2015 run was legit too. Cena at Extreme Rules, Punk at SummerSlam, the HHH cage match, ending the Undertaker’s streak, and then destroying Cena in 2014. He had a pretty good 2015 run too. That version of Brock felt like an actual event.

After that? It started to fizzle for me. The aura was still there, but the formula got old. Short matches, rinse and repeat.

I liked the Brock Box stuff, the Roman LMS, and the Cody trilogy… but overall, it just didn’t hit the same. His programs with Roman and Omos didn’t do much for me, and the Lashley feud felt off. At least he put Oba over on the way out.

I get why some people still saw him as a draw. Just wasn’t for me after a while.

If this is it—thanks for the run, Brock. Enjoy watching your kids succeed and the quiet life hunting and field dressing deer in the snowy Canadian wilderness.

He can make a very strong case for being the best big man ever, when he felt like it. But between leaving in 2004 like he did, the way he conducted himself in NJPW, his inconsistencies as a performer, and being basically a piece of shit, he lost me years ago. 2003 and 2011-15 were fantastic runs but I can't get past the negatives anymore.

He's still by far the best homegrown talent the WWE system has produced to this day, though. Maybe the best look for an American talent ever, too.
