Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercial and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humour.

It's pretty likely that it wouldn't still be as popular today as it would have been in the 80's, unfortunately. Not because it would've been bad, per se, but I think that it being Ray Parker's biggest hit and only remembered song is part of its charm. If Huey Lewis had done it, it would be like the Kenny Loggins stuff: still fondly remembered, but not quite as outright adored.Insp. Gadget (1st season only) said:Let's open a can of worms.
