This has been everywhere

Trump said the US will "start shooting" if more protesters are killed. This is the worst thing to say IMO because the history both of real and imagined US involvement in the region and Iran only hurts these protesters. I don't think the regime will be overthrown until the people and army come together on their own.

This is a horrifying number of dead and it seems to only be getting worse. Trump is also accelerating his rhetoric about getting involved. I don't want to see people continue to be butchered in Iran but even if the US was being run by a competent administration with allies it hadn't alienated I wouldn't have faith it could intervene in Iran successfully.

The idea that he wants military action in the desert, the tundra, and the jungle makes me think he just saw the original Star Wars trilogy but couldn't pick a favorite planet.

Al-Jazeera reported that Iran has closed its airspace except for international flights going out or coming in but I haven't seen it anywhere else yet.

Iran may not be a worldwide power but they're certainly more capable of defending themselves than Venezuela was. It's almost certainly missile strikes or something else from the air, no way we're putting a single foot on Iranian soil even in some kind of surgical operation like when they went and got Maduro.

EDIT: As soon as I went to check on updates I saw that Iran has closed its airspace entirely now. It's night there currently (4:32pm PST) so we might have something break into prime time TV tonight.

"We're going to fuck you up if you keep executing people."
"Don't worry, we stopped."
"For real?"
"Yeah, for real."
"All right then, better not kill anyone or we'll fuck you up."
"We aren't, I mean, won't!"
"Okay."

"...By the way, we've killed thousands in super fucked up ways."

Even when the US regime tries to talk tough they blow it.

Taking on Iran is a lot tougher than Venezuela. If he intends to do more than just bomb it there will almost certainly be US causalities.

The way in which Israel has been able to destabilize Western society is genuinely absolutely fucking crazy. This little shithole country will be our downfall.

"The strikes: Some of the first strikes appeared to hit areas around the offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and Iranian media reported strikes nationwide. Smoke could be seen rising from the capital. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the 86-year-old leader was in his offices at the time of the strike.

Iran retaliated: Hours after the strikes, Iran retaliated by firing missiles and drones toward Israel and U.S. military bases in the region."

Khamenei is dead according to Israeli sources. Hasn't been confirmed yet and we've had Iranian and other leaders pop up alive after being believed dead in bombings. If he is dead this will be trumpeted as a great success but the guy was 86 and will almost certainly be replaced by someone even more hardline.

What is the actual end goal here? I mean I know it's all just another distraction but in THEORY what is the end goal?

I live in Dubai and am seeing rockets fly and get blown up directly above my balcony. Iran can't do anything to the US or break through Israel's defences so the Gulf is getting hammered instead. Absolute nightmare here right now.

No one is quite sure why Iran is just making things worse for themselves or what anyone's endgame is (and past regime changes have worked out so well long term).

Stay safe @OG!

Lot of stuff happening but

3 US servicemen dead so far.
Oil tankers hit in the Strait of Hormuz.
An Iranian missile hit a residential neighborhood in Israel and killed a bunch of people.
According to Iranian media there's at least 133 dead civilians including from a missile strike on a girls school.
Israel is claiming at least 40 senior Iranian commanders dead. Iran says they'll have a new Supreme leader in a day or 2.
Fetterman has a huge boner.

The crews are in stable condition.

This is not a reason to go to war!

America went to war with a country they knew did not have a functioning nuclear program because Israel was going to anyway. Now a bunch of Americans are dead. There is no plan on what to do next beyond maybe just leaving the current government in place and hoping they'll suddenly love America.

I've never been a "Wow Trump makes Bush look good" guy but this actually does make Bush look good by comparison.

It's going to take all of Trump's genius to get Iran to agree to a deal like the one he cancelled a few years ago.

Let's remember this war of choice next time, and every time, someone tells us we need to vote for a republican because 'they will end the wars that the dems keep starting." When Trump told Netenyahu that he'd help him "finish the job," he meant it.

Netenyahu probably asked Biden, Obama, etc to bomb Iran as many times as Donald's name is in those files.

To prove once & for all that the US will never ever ever ever learn any lessons from past foreign policy failures. Ever.

The current justification is that this was "pre-emptively defensive", Iran would attack US interests if Israel attacked Iran, so we needed to do this to protect us. Which p much undercuts the "Daddy Trump had the balls to do what no other President would."
