Several parts of that are untrue, others are misleading. The exercises had been over for several days. It was an armed Frigate, that was unarmed during the exorcises only. I don't agree with the war at all but it was a legit target. There were hundreds if not thousands of far more questionable targets sunk during the World Wars by the Entente and Allies.
You can't even dream of "unconditional surrender" without sending ground troops in.

One of the key aspects of Trump's presidencies-hell, his entire life-is that he doesn't make plans, nor does he have goals. He says he wants something done, then expects everyone else to do the rest so he can take all the credit. That's why it was so annoying when pundits would ask "what is his endgame?" when he's too dumb and lazy to do any of that. He's the human embodiment of the Underpants Gnomes episode of "South Park". It's 1.) says he wants something done 2.) ??? 3.) profit.

I figured that they'd try to go in with a small footprint first but I really don't think that will work as well as they want. Iran knows they're coming and they're getting intelligence help from other powers. This isn't like Afghanistan where the Taliban had no one, or Venezula where it was a small scale op.
