I can never decide if I think Neutral Milk Hotel are objectively awful or just something I should go out of my way to never revisit again for subjective reasons. I'm gonna find out as soon as the film I'm watching is over.

Look, I'd probably still really enjoy listening to In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. But it would fill me with a sense of warm embarrassment that I don't know if I can handle right now.

I don't know what subjective reasons you could have for hating Neutral Milk Hotel (other than the fact that NMH fandom has reached this weird kind of hipster cliche) but to say they're "objectively bad" just sounds like maybe you should listen to it again.

I remember being taken to a hot dog eatery in Williamsburg many years ago, and this album started playing in the background as soon as we got our food. Initially, I was delighted. But it felt kinda weird enjoying my meal while hearing some of the lyrics to King of Carrot Flowers.

But I do really like this album. Gonna dig it up.
