Madden NFL 10 League- Season 2, Week 17: Push for the Playoffs

Signups were culled from my Madden '10 game thread.

That leaves 21 teams open. Any teams not controlled by players will be controlled by the CPU. The game settings will be as follows, unless people object:

Quarters: 5 minutes
Difficulty: All-Pro

I am unsure if I will allow trades with the CPU teams. If you guys want them in, that's cool, but they'd have to be fair. I read that CPU teams will accept anything.

There is no option for flex scheduling. We all have to ready up for the week to advance. 1 game per week will be required, but if we can fit in 2 (and it shouldn't be hard; with all the CPU teams, we can play whenever we want) that would be optimal. I'm thinking of starting a week from tomorrow. Registration would open tomorrow.

Matt, you're kind of a prick for calling Green Bay even though I called it first. No one messed with your post, why would I call dibs on the Packers a few posts later if you hadn't posted that? Makes no sense.

Anyways, I'll play along and it'd be fun to play with a crappy team to start with so that I can build them up into a dynasty. I'll take the (sort of hometown) Seattle Seahawks, unless someone is adamant about wanting them in which case I have no problem switching over to another team. This also gives me the opportunity to kick Matt Young's ass later in the year @ Lambeau.

Well, deleting my post does not seem like something you would do, but I distinctly remember posting about bringing back the league from last year and calling dibs on the Packers. Something happened to that post. But I'm glad to see that there are no hard feelings. Honestly,. I thought you weren't getting the game.

CPU trades should be voted on in this thread if they're for anything of import (I shouldn't have to get approval to trade for 49 OVR Colt Brennan if I want him). Free agents should also be distributed fairly somehow.

Free agents can be distributed via a random draft order decided by a third party.

*I've heard from people who have the game early that OF doesn't have a preseason.

I'll change it back if people don't like it. I just didn't want to have to spend an hour and a ahlf on every game. 5 minute quarters takes 45-60 minutes to play as is.

I don't think I've ever spent more than 25-30 minutes to play out 5 minute quarters. Do you pass like 60 times a game or something? Obviously for online play between the human teams it's fine because not everyone has all day to play, but against the CPU-controlled teams I like to play a little longer.

I pass more than I run since the running games was next to impossible in last year's game, but both teams would have to run or complete passes on every play for a 25 minute game.

Maybe I just know the playbook better or something so I don't spend as much time in between plays and I also do control the clock when I'm ahead so the second half tends to go by quick unless it's close. Perhaps that's why 5 minutes is quick for me.

Don't know if you've noticed or not, but you lose about 10 seconds between most plays anyway as the clock 'skips' forward. So 5mins is really only about 3!

Make sure you turn accelerated clock off before heading to Madden Moments. No need to make it more difficult on yourself, as I found out. Trying to lead pass-heavy touchdown drives with the likes of Tarvaris Jackson & Brady Quinn is hard enough.

I guess accelerated clock off/ 5-7 mins makes more sense how it could take a while to play a game. We used to play 10mins/ all Madden accelerated clock & those games would last an hour.

Oh and I picked it up for xbox today but it might take me a week or to to sort out the online bullshit. Put me down as the Eagles if they aren't taken. And I'm strongly pushing for the fantasy draft option. It'll take a while but it's really fucking fun & it puts people on a level playing field in the "you can't complain because you picked them" excuse.
