MTV turns "30" today...

I remember when my ultra-conservative parents had MTV blocked from our satellite so I couldn't watch Beavis and Butthead. My Mom even went a day refusing to speak to me because (prior to the blocking) my cousin spent the night with us and mentioned that we had watched Beavis and Butthead the previous night.

Beavis and Butthead wasn't THAT bad. And even my parents got ate up with the dumbass over the show. They'd been letting me watch every horror movie available since I was five years old, and there I was starting Junior High and I was not allowed to watch toilet humor? Really???


Then I busted my dad watching it and order was restored to the universe.

Upon further research, The Head was paired up with The Maxx on MTV's Oddities. So I was half right.

I really enjoyed The Head. Maxx was hit or miss. The long drawn out dialogue over a slow panning-out still drawing was a little tedious.

Beavis and Butthead are coming back and so is 120 Minutes, so why not other shows. I don't know if it's the same one, but I just processed some time cards for a project on MTV called Remote Control. I don't know if it's the same one or not, but with a couple other shows coming back, why not this one?

He's just thinking of the VH1 special from about 10 years ago focusing on image in music where Cross lamented how his career faltered due to his non-telegenic looks. I'd rather hear a Britney song than "Sailing" any day.

EDIT: Not Rod Stewart's "Sailing," though. That was OK.

"Aeon Flux" was awesome. I love a good headtrip every now and then, and it hits the spot in so many ways. Plus, I'm a sucker for cyberpunk.

That was part of the charm. That and the design.

I thought they acknowledged that there was no way you could bring it back, as things like Youtube, MP3's and Social Networking sites killed it.

How sad is it that VH1 Classic is essentially the old school MTV? I managed to DVR the 120 Minutes episode last night that aired 4 AM - 6 AM. Not sure if it's full episode repeats or just a collection of videos but I assume the latter.

One thing I've noticed is that MTV has added quite a few original scripted shows the past couple years tailored towards the teen and young adult crowd. They still have their fair share of reality stuff too, but Jersey Shore's about to end, plus how much longer can the Real World/Challenge franchise go?

The challenge will go forever. They just had their best rated season ever the other season I think. They also just bring in random people from casting calls to fill in the body requirements now that Road Rules isn't on anymore.
