I liked how after the Nash trade that the announcers made mention of the fact that the Suns had "made the painful decision" to trade away Nash. They lose points for saying it happened in the offseason though.

But it's still cool they bring it up. I like how they talk about your previous games. I lost a nail biter to the Rockets after they forced OT on a last second shot and the announcers talked about how it was a game I shouldn't have lost because I was ahead for most of the closing stretch.

I'm not a big fan of them taking the coach settings out of the quick menus you can bring up with the control pad. I liked to modify things without having to pause the game and do all of them, but I guess there was some demand to do that (screen space maybe?).

I'm not doing too hot in my Jazz dynasty at the moment, as I'm 0-4 thus far. I just keep making too many careless passes, so I need to get that under control because the turnover battle is killing me (the Miami Heat beat my ass off because of this). I also need to play with more of the post moves. It also doesn't help that Bell is my starting SG and has a 68 OVR rating. I let the CPU be GM because I don't have tons of time to sit and do all of that work, so it'll be interesting what turnover I might have in my roster by the All-Star Break.

Also, I may be wrong here, but I'm PRETTY sure my Suns, who only average 90-ish points per game, aren't averaging over 80 assists per game.

Since my last posts, the Suns have since raped Portland in two trades, doing a combined trade of Gortat, Lopez and Carter for Camby, Batum, Roy and Barron

2011-2012 Phoenix Suns (may or may not contain any actual Suns players)

That's actually a good trade for Portland, even if I'm assuming Carter there is Vince Carter. The only player Portland gave up of value is Batum.

the Carter trade was Vince Carter for Brandon Roy and not-Bob-Barron

I was glad to have Carter gone, he was sucking it up for most of the year. Don't know how good Roy is yet, cause in his first game with the Suns he got hurt less than 1 quarter in.

Presentation and commentary in this game has to be #1 in any sports title, perhaps any game. Buzzer beater shots being contested and reviewed on video made me lose control over my bowls for a slight moment due to the excitement.

What the fuck? Midway through my game with the Kings, the ball just disappeared. We're playing with a fucking invisible basketball.

Also, it's pretty embarassing that I've played 75+ games in my player, but yet every time that Lawal gets the ball, I STILL have to do my Hulk Hogan impression and yell out, "THAT'S LAWAL, BROTHER!"

I really suck at this game. I find it's too easy on rookie, but I keep losing close games on the pro level. This might be because I have the Utah Jazz, who aren't rated very high, but I get so tired of not being able to complete passes that look open, but the CPU magically reads my mind and intercepts them. Also, it's grating that teams can easily run a fastbreak on me, but when I try it, teams get some kind of turbo boost and cut it off.

So I'm 3 seasons into Be a Pro, and it's not even FAIR to the rest of the NBA anymore. I'm on the Heat now, and we are just overly fucking dominant. We have a starting 5 of: My BAP(who is up to a 94 overall and the reigning MVP), Wade, Durant, Ibaka and Boozer. The team has an overall rating of 95. It's pretty fuckin ridiculous right now

Re: NBA 2K12

I need to get back to my Nuggets Association Mode game. I crafted a dynasty based around sharpshooters. I cheat slightly in that I allow myself to "coach" players in the offseason on their tendencies. I allow myself to only move in category by five points.

When I get back, I need to see if I can get Ricky Rubio to become the all-time assists leader. He's already the all-time steals leader and is aging remarkably slow.

I find that you can only hold about three superstars at one time. The only way to hold four huge contracts is to replenish through smart draft picks in the late first round. It's fun to play the salary cap game.

Re: NBA 2K12

So I booted up 2k again, forgot I had this game. Restarted from scratch with the Bobcats. Had a first game that was quite fun. My team's overall is 61, but we put up quite a fight against the Orlando Magic for my first game. Came out the gate badly, and was down 15-9 to start the game, I bricked so many easy shots it was hilarious. Called a time out and made sure to play superb defence on my end, and eventually my shots starting falling and quarter 1 ended with me trailing by 4.

Second quarter was probably the best quarter of my life in this game. I shot over 70% and actually took the lead. Was really impressed with how this team started shooting out the lights mid-range. Took a 6 point lead into the half and was feeling good about myself.

About 9 minutes are on the clock in the third quarter When my starting C, Greg Oden, got into foul trouble. Well, had Okur come in to cover Howard, which kinda failed since Howard scored his first bucket in the third. It was quite surreal to find out that I held Dwight off for so long, especially the commentary saying to the effect "they've managed to shut down Howard so well". Spent the rest of the quarter trading blows with the Magic, due to Oden's stellar defence being gone.

When Oden came back in in the 4th, I managed to pull away and win 110-100. Amazingly having a roster built with Odom, Okur, Biedrins, Kemba, Oden, this Atkins dude I grabbed off of FA, and my created self was quite fun. Here's hoping the rest of the season goes as fun. Though I don't think I should have my created shooting specialist pulling up 38 shots. 40 points, but still...

For every game Oden survives, I'm increasing his durability by 1. I doubt he'll survive more than 10 games before he probably breaks his knee(s) again, but it was fun signing. Also: Healthy Ol' Man > Superboy.

Might put a line up of PG Self, SG Kemba, SF Okur, PF Odom, and C Oden and see how that works next game.

Re: NBA 2K12

There's something funny about playing in Association Mode and Wade is carrying a sore knee all season long with a team that loses 60 games in 2016.

Re: NBA 2K12

I'm not sure what to do with Odom, guys. I've got him playing at SF, but he doesn't seem to be doing much of anything. He's basically just there. Would it better for me to switch him and Okur (who's at PF) so that I can focus on Okur shooting more, or would it be a good idea to have Odom drop to the Sixth Man slot and put my current Sixth Man, Atkins (56ish C+ FA), at the SF slot and let him develop?

Started playing this today. Best basketball game ever made. I'm playing the '86 Celtics vs Dominique's Hawks and am loving it.

Re: NBA 2K12

I still enjoy the basic basketball, but My Player is just so ridiculous sometimes with it's trade AI and other statistical fuckups.

Also, my guy, who is the REIGNING MVP is currently in the lead for the Most Improved Player award.

Re: NBA 2K12

How much better have you improved in stats? I think I had my third best scorer in my original association win it simply because he jumped from 2 to 7 rebounds, with a modest improvement in other categories after a previous season.

Pretty much any stat that has a huge spike will get him on the consideration list.

Re: NBA 2K12

They wanted to make My Player easier to play multiple, but actually, it's more difficult in this version. Last year, you could just enter every game and simulate to the end. Doing an entire regular season took about two and a half hours to simulate.

Re: NBA 2K12

Shit man, I've played through almost 3 seasons playing EVERY damn game.

And yeah, my stats have gone up considerably, I'm leading the league in scoring, assists and steals(averaging a RIDICULOUS 6.1 steals per game), while second in FG%

But still, the reigning MVP being the most improved player is just plain silly no matter what my stats look like.

Re: NBA 2K12

Started a My Player and got sucked in for about 4 hours last night. Got drafted by the Suns as a SG. Is it me or are your teammates fucking terrible? They miss shots all over the place and don't seem to know what to do with the ball sometimes. Does the game just want you to call for the ball every time and do it yourself or something?

I also still haven't gotten used to the dribble moves/driving to the hoop thing down (didn't play 2K11). Am I supposed to release the trigger when I want to move towards the hoop.

Re: NBA 2K12

The best thing that I can recommend is to try out the training camp mode they have in the main menu of the game. It helps explain quite a few things.

Re: NBA 2K12

So I asked for a trade from the Suns because that team sucks and Steve Nash won't pass to me. I get traded to the lightly less bad Hornets.....along with Steve Nash.

Re: NBA 2K12

This game is worse than 2k11 to me. Mostly because your teammates are complete morons. THe AI in 2011 was much better.

Also, I am tired of my player randomly dropping the ball on a drive to the basket at least twice a game.

Re: NBA 2K12

So I rented NBA 2k13, and this "executive produced by Jay-Z" shit is AWFUL. Every game intro is now a Jay-Z video with shots of basketball randomly inserted, and they took what was, IMO, one of the best licensed soundtracks in 2k12 and replaced it with a Jay-Z jerkoff session. and Coldplay. Fucking Coldplay.

Re: NBA 2K12

I haven't played it yet, but the soundtrack features "Shook Ones", "The World is Yours", Daft Punk, and "I Ain't No Joke". That negates Coldplay and makes it easily better than 2K12's soundtrak.

I'm actually not a fan of key games in My Career. You don't get a music video at any point. Instead, you have your player trying to psyche up his team by yelling encouragement like a complete douche.

Re: NBA 2K12

The ratings for 2k13 are p. wonky. Chauncey Billups rated at 82 and better than most of the great young point guards? Kidd being the same rated at 80. Tim Duncan still being the best player on the Spurs and rated at 87??!! LOL RUSSEL WESTBROOK AS GOOD AS ROSE, KOBE, AND WADE??!!!

Then there's guys like Eric Bledsoe at a weak 66 or Galinari at fucking 70... I'm gonna have to do a lot of editing once I get this game.

Westbrook is a top ten player in the league and will probably take a step forward this year. Kobe and Wade are over the hill while Rose has to prove he can come back from that injury. I might still rather have Kobe for one season, but I don't even know.

Westbrook is one of the greatest slashers I've ever seen and is not even in the prime of his career yet.

Re: NBA 2K12

The good thing about Anthony being a 92 and Kidd being an 80 is that I was able to trade them away and build a young core of Irving, Shumpert, Kawhi Leonard, and Ersan Ilyasova. Due to the cap room I made, I snagged Dwight Howard in free agency. I was then forced to trade Bargnani (traded for Chandler) to get a sixth man in Ryan Anderson. Oh, and I have four first round picks in the upcoming draft.

So, I recommend imploding the Knicks and starting over. It's easy.
