Play-in tourney
East:
(7) Philadelphia vs (8) Orlando - winner plays (2) Boston in first round, loser plays winner of CHA/MIA
(9) Charlotte vs (10) Miami - winner plays loser of PHI/ORL for right to play (1) Detroit in first round

West:
(7) Phoenix vs (8) Portland - winner plays (2) San Antonio in first round, loser plays winner of LAC/GS
(9) LA Clippers vs (10) Golden State - winner plays loser of PHO/POR for right to play (1) Oklahoma City in first round

Of note: Miles Bridges has played in 501 career games without making a playoff appearance, which is 8th place all-time and the most among active players. The Hornets are two wins away from ending the drought.

(he's right below Eddy Curry who, despite never playing a postseason game, still has a championship ring with the 2012 Miami Heat.)

I don't see Warriors getting out of the playins. I'm not a fan of SGA's playstyle but he's Canadian so I'm not opposed to seeing OKC win it all again.

East
1) Detroit vs 8) Orlando - four previous meetings, with Detroit winning three of them, most recently a 4-1 series in in 2008.

2) Boston vs 8) Philadelphia - the most frequent matchup in NBA playoff history, as this will be the 23rd meeting between the two teams. The Celtics have won 15 of the previous 22, including the last six, most recently a 7-game series in 2023.

3) New York vs 6) Atlanta - despite the long existences of these two franchises, they have only met three times in the postseason. The Knicks have won two of those, but the Hawks won the most recent matchup in 2021.

4) Cleveland vs 5) Toronto - a pretty famously lopsided playoff history here, as the Cavs have won all three previous playoff outings, which includes 10 straight wins overall against the Raptors in the playoffs.

West
1) Oklahoma City vs 2) Phoenix - Since the move to OKC this is the first playoff matchup between the two teams. The franchises split two prior matchups in the playoffs, with the then-Sonics winning the most recent one in 1997, 3 games to 2.

2) San Antonio vs 7) Portland - Four previous matchups, three won by the Spurs, most recently a 4-1 series win in 2014 on their way to their most recent championship.

3) Denver vs 6) Minnesota - Three previous meetings, with Minnesota winning 2, most recently a 7-game victory in 2024.

4) LA Lakers vs 5) Houston - Nine previous meetings, with six won by the Lakers, most recently winning in 5 games in 2020.

Billy is a class act and while I found his coaching predictable after a few seasons, he always seems like a genuine and honest person. I read that he stepped down despite the fact that Michael Reinsdorf clearly wanted him back. He knows it doesn't make sense for him to be back, and its better for the Bulls to start with almost a clean slate. Now if only The Reinsdorfs would sell.

I don’t know if I see him coaching again but you gotta think the Bulls go after him for one of those FO vacancies
They are interviewing 6 guys so far, but I imagine they'll make room for Kerr if he wants to interview. I know Kerr was bad in the front office of Phoenix, but that was like 15-20 years ago.

I think out of that list, Matt Lloyd will probably be the choice. He is from Chicago, has ties to the Bulls and worked in the video room when Jordan was here, and was with the organization in the late 00's/early 10's as a scout and drafting guy. It sounds like he was the main scout and big reason the Bulls drafted Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson. Jerry and his goober son are so damn loyal, although who knows if they pick Lloyd if Kerr agrees to interview for the spot. Since Kerr made Jerry more money and hit one of the best shots in Bulls history in the 97 finals.

Yeah fuck Reggie lol. Great player, but him and John Stockton are despised forever by me for how annoying they were in those Playoff series in the 90's. He's still one of the most irritating and corny players of all time as a personality. I can't believe they've had him as a talking head for decades now, and he's constantly so bad at it. Also, after seeing him in a few movies like the cinematic milestone Uncle Drew, he might be the worst athlete ever to act and that's saying a lot.

As someone who never rooted for any of the teams that got "got" by Reggie in the playoffs, and also never venerated any of the guys he did lose to... I do kind of feel bad for Reggie, just like I feel bad for most of the stars who had to play the primes of their careers in the shadow of that one dude.
