If he's doing that then he's worth it.

On 2k9 when I was playing as the Hawks, Horford was putting up 9 points/8 rebounds/1 block a game... and somehow thought this was worth a max contract... but that was more of because I improved him so much even though it didn't show stats wise. Someone did give him that max contract though and it was the Lakers after Bynum left for the Knicks.

Its not what he does in games its his overall rating and whether or not he's loyal to your team.

The steal of 2k9 was Javaris Fucking Crittenton. He was a free agent, not very good, but with a potential rating of B+. I signed him at 1.16 mil a year for six years, and he had an overall rating of 69 at the time. Two offseasons of exploiting his advantages and he's up to 84, and is a scoring machine... I put him in as the starting 2 and he is big enough to handle most of the better SGs, and fast enough to run a devastating fast break. Just need to improve his midrange shooting and look the fuck out. I've already had him have at least two or three 40 point games.

One of my friends is having his My Player lock up every time he tries to advance through the offseason. Anyone else having that problem and know how to fix it?

There's supposedly a patch coming to fix that.

And you know what? I shouldn't've spoken so soon. He dropped right down to 16/10 after that. I had to make a few more trades since I didn't realize I had no back up rotation. ^_^;; Especially needed some more PG and SG, since DeRozan went down with an injury and is out for a week to two.

Currently 3-2, after being blown out in game 1 (I got it back to 10 thanks to garbage players) and I lost to the Lakers (without Kobe who's jaw was broken the previous game, 8 weeks) just recently. I've only won a single game by 10 or more (which was exactly 10), so I kinda like the game for that. The only thing I don't like is the fact that my point guard (myself) is taking like as many shots as Kobe or any elite star would. He's open, so that's why, but after about 10 shots, I start fucking up the timing and its like "blarg".

Since I'm the Raptors, I should probably be happy with the 3-2 record, right?

Also, can someone explain to me how I can rest my starters? They are kinda fatigued, and I gotta play Portland after the Lakers in back to back games, so I'm wondering should I just lower my starters minutes for that game?

I'm thinking that tinkering with the rotation, and giving your sixth man a lot of minutes could help out your team. I had a situation similar to that come up in one of my seasons. I was putting my Mavericks through some kind of rebuilding season, and relied too much on my young guys...and a 36 year old Dirk Nowitzki. A couple of my bench guys got hurt and I went with a rotation not fitting a team where they still relying on the old guard. We got tired and lost quite a few games in March.

Meanwhile, I started a new My Player campaign with a point guard. I prefer it to a small forward so far. I was able to shut down both Wall and Bledsoe in the combine games. I suppose that another bonus is that they won't jerk me around with what position I'm playing during actual Nets games. I found my old guy having to play the 2, 3 and 4 at different points during a game. This was not fun. And, as a point, you can find ways to save energy.

When a game that was ready to launch is cancelled, you know it must have really sucked. When ELECTRONIC ARTS cancels a game because of it's quality, you know it must have REALLY sucked.

A friend of mine bought NBA 2k11, and I must say that it is very realistic. Not only the graphics but it also depicts my inability to be able to play basketball.

I'm bumping this because I just had an EPIC game against Orlando Magic and it was just the first game of the season! I went through 4 damn overtimes to win the game. Each period before it I had to make the game tying shot to move it to the next frame. I couldn't believe how hard this game was to not let it die, and strive for the win. I have no words to describe how much fun that was. Just pure bliss. Fun times.

Are you still using the Raptors or is this a new team?

Also, has anyone tried the new NBA Jam yet? I really want to try it out and Fry's Electronics has it on sale for $29 through today but I just have a feeling the price tag is gonna drop soon.

Is there a way that you can play as all-time teams in this game? I really want to play as John Stockton, but just wanted to know if you unlock the team after going through Jordan mode or if you just get to play against the Jazz and they are in Jordan mode only.

I'm still using the Raptors, but I got rid of nearly all the Raptors except Barngani. I've got I think 8 or 9 drafted players and some D-leaguers to fill out the roster (they aren't bad d-leaguers either). And considering how harshly this game rates players and performances if they aren't premier talent, I'm kinda surprised I'm doing as well as I am. My defense hasn't shown up for a game except my 5th game and second game against the Cavs, in which I shot 60% in the first half and held them to 26%. I've drafted a team totally full of offense and more offense. Its been working for the most part. It'll make it a bitch to resign some people seeing as after year 3, I'll have a team full of 80s and 90s, but its a small price to pay.

Thats always been the good and bad thing about the 2k series. You get those rookies, but in three years you have some serious decisions to make. You almost have to retard their development until you can get them signed for that 7 year contract, then train them like hell.

In my own game, I drafted a lottery point guard that is almost everything I want. He arrived on my team with an 81 rating, and I put his to work almost immediately. He can score, run the floor and is an okay passer, something I plan on fixing in the next offseason, as that Keep Away Passing training is as as full of bullshit as the Rebounding ones are. But I can't go too crazy raising his stats, otherwise I won't be able to afford him when his rookie contract comes up. Its a balancing act.

I just rented NBA Jam for the Wii. Reminds me of the old NBA Jam, but the Wii controls take something away from it. I might try the control scheme without the nunchuck to see if those respond any better.

I'm in the playoffs with the Knicks and played a pretty fun series against the Bulls. In thie first game I won a close game. Second game I beat them handily. The third game though was a close one. Near the end of the 2nd quarter I was up by like 10 or so and the Bulls started to make a run. Derrick Rose cut the lead to 6 after a three then fell to the floor like a little bitch. He strained his back and ended up being out for the series. The Bulls kept playing hard though and they were down 1 with like 10 seconds left. They held the ball till like the end of the shot clock which left like 3 seconds before Boozer hoisted up a 22 footer that bounced in. 0.9 is left on the clock and I'm down 1. I had to look for a someone with a quick release for a catch and shoot and I found Gallinari at the top of the arc, hitting a 3 pointer at the buzzer to win. I might upload it to 2KSports but that takes a while.

The next game, even without Rose, saw the Bulls take a 25 point lead. In the 4th quarter, down by 21, with Tom Thibs clearing out the bench, I made a run. I cut it to like 9 before he put the starters back in. It went down to like 6 or so before they got it back up to 9 with 2 minutes left. Gallinari must have like 99 clutch or something because he started draining threes. I hit one to cut it to 6. Got a stop, hit another to cut it to 3. I get a steal and try another 3 with Gallo but he misses. I think it was like CJ Watson who hit a jumper but I came back and hit another 3 and cut it to 2. CJ Watson ran the clock down to like 10 seconds before hitting another jumper to bring it back down to 4. Gallinari is like fuck you and hit another 3. So down 1, the Bulls with 4 second left, turn it over. Amare intercepted the ball. 4 seconds left, I give it to Gallo again. But I guess he was too close cause I stepped in for a mid-range jumper at the buzzer and missed.

It's all good though cause the next game I blew them out and I'm starting the 2nd round today.

You have to bust your ass to win this game. Like 100% effort.

for all the things 2k has gotten right over the years, the drills have slowly become complete and total horseshit over the years. Attack the basket is so full of shit right now...hopsteps making you stepback, slight bumps make you lose ur dribble at the fucking 3point line. Ugh.

Yeah the attack the basket and low post ones are bullshit because you have to make every single shot and it's nearly impossible. You have to shoot some stupid layups to win.

Yeah, I had to try and develop Ramon Sessions and another PG I drafted to get their dunk ratings up, so that they would do a basic dunk instead of attempting wack ass layups on fast breaks which have a much less chance of going in even if you execute it perfectly. Thank goodness that new PG came along who has a dunk rating in the 70s. I traded Sessions immediately and the other PG I can do the same with a sign and trade for an expiring contract and a draft pick.

Well, after a few games, I'm now 5-2. My team is shooting a insane 48-50% per game (except the two I lost). And I'd like some help.

As you know, my team is full of shooters. This is all fine and dandy, but that's pretty much all my team has got. And the occasional, what was I thinking, type of player. This isn't a problem on the offensive side, as I rack up the points (I've only had one game under 100 points scored) but I'm seriously lacking on the defensive side. Sure, I'll get the rebounds, but I give up way too many easy looks and baskets in the post.

Besides waiting till the draft next year or adjusting a low talented player's play style to defending, any suggestions on how I can improve my team? Or should I just ride out Year 1 with this team, see if they get boosts in defense and just run with it?

Also, I don't have a true secondary scorer. I've been lucky that someone, be it Rhodes (drafted, SF/SG), McDaniels (drafted, SF/PF), or Bargnani (PF/C) shows up to player second fiddle to my created point guard self, but no one consistently stays there. Will this be a problem later on? Its funny but no one stops this point guard in getting clean open shots.

I wish there was a way to simulate games in My Player mode. The problem is that I have finally fought my way through seventy games with quarters at five minutes in length. I'm on the Warriors, and I'm actually just getting selfish to make my stats run higher and help us in the lottery, as this team really, really sucks. I'm just hoping that I don't have that offseason glitch hit me.

The clippers have the 3 best record in the league thanks to my monsterous myplayer...um...player. I'm averaging 34 points and 11 assist, with one steal, two blocks and 6 rebounds.

I had 4 games with 73 points but that asshole Vinny Delnegro would sub me out, preventing mefrom hitting my milestone.

has anyone else noticed the fastbreak thing in my player? They are probably going to fix that.

Gotta make the game realistic.

Honestly, that sucks though. I always set my games to manual subs and timeouts, so if that's not the case, it'll really bug me when I get around to playing this mode.

Picked up NBA Jam for PS3 from Amazon. Pretty darn addicting. Been trying to unlock Brad Daugherty today with no luck (Double up CPU opponent).

Played a couple online games with no lag but was assraped both times. That said, I'll probably play it more tonight.

The god damn Hawks have won 4 titles in a row in my game after signing Gallinari in FA during the offseason of 2012. Smith and Gallinari have passed around the MVP trophy like it's a joint and they both have averaged 27+ ppg since that terrible offseason. They have smoked me in the ECF the last two seasons to the point I wanna lower the difficulty and end this bullshit run of domination.

I finally picked this up the other day. I remembered I stopped playing NBA 2k9 becaue the iso controls were frustrating me and sometimes the player animations take too long, but I made a semi-realistic PG version of me (short as hell, but bulky and quick) and upped his vertical, speed, and quickness starting on the "athletic" model. It works pretty well! The drills are definitely bullshit, but I have tons of fun playing defense in the game and the shooting drill is easy as hell.

For those of you having trouble with shooting, I highly recommend doing the shootaround for a bit until you master the timing of a particular player or team. I also have shot feedback on (under game options-presentaton) so it tells me in the game when I have a good release.. a lot of times my guard takes shots and it goes green, but doesn't go in the bucket and I find that's really just because of the rating for that shot. You can be Shaq and release it from beyond the arc with a perfect release, but it's not likely going to hit because of that and that's fine, you learn to work with your strengths and flaws.

I like to keep my guy as a primary passer/defender who hits 3 pointers when needed and drives the lane when it's open. Once my stats go up, it'll be different I'm sure.

My problem is that I play a lot with my player in the first season, and then I move to a better team in the 2nd season, and then I don't stick with it. I just made a shooting guard, and the position is pretty damned easy to play compared to center, and point guard. Your job is to score, and that's pretty damned easy with a good jumper.

I turned the Warriors into a juggernaut with one trade. After the first season, where we kept up a run and gun style, I traded a few parts for Kevin Love. I recommend letting Curry and Ellis stay together. They will get fifty points a night, with fifteen assists and five steals. Then, if you challenge enough shots in those drills, you can turn Love into a pretty decent shot blocker.

The hardest part with the Association is actually blowing up a team and then building up its chemistry. Also, keeping the team together with loyal players who want to re-sign.

Playing as a tall point guard is probably the easiest though. Because he can block opposing point guards shots, rebound, run a nasty pick and roll( his height allows him better angles for passes) and the dunking ability is nice.

Before my xbox died I was nearing the end of my first season with my point guard averaging 35pts 13 ast 8 reb 2.1 blocks 1 steal and shooting like 63% from the field.

But I also have missed a shitload of games because I didn't load any points on durability so I am out of the running for alot of awards because of it. I was drafterd number 8(or 9) to the Clippers and have them 3rd in the West. Now I have to get this thing working again.

Any other NBA 2k11 users having issues with the game when connecting to their server or already online? I really needed to get online to get a draft class 2013 but it seems like the online is officially fucked up right now and has been for a few weeks.

I picked up NBA Jam a week or so ago when EA's website had it for $17 and it's totally worth it. I remember playing the first NBA Jam on Sega Genesis and this is definitely like it. I'm playing campaign mode and it's fun to play the legends challenge at the end of each conference. Also fun unlocking old players. I play as Kobe with James Worthy in the campaign and it's great. Also a great game to play with friends. The amount of shit talking during the game is limitless.

Also, all of the different game modes are really fun.
