I'll be downloading this demo tonight.

One thing EA mentioned was improving a QB's ability to avoid contact in the pocket when a blitzer comes free, and also the ability to escape on quick pass plays, particularly screen passes. I know in the past sometimes whenever I called a screen pass, the defenders would get to the QB so fast that even if I was backing up the QB to suck the defenders into the trap, they would still get to the QB so damn fast. I'll try out some screens to see what it looks like.

Some of the things I'm so psyched for didn't make an appearance in the demo.... namely all the shit involved with Connected Career. I'm so glad you finally progress based on how you perform and not some arbitrary seeming system.

Enjoyed the new physics engine, but I never felt like it was a whole new game. Still played the same even though you can easily recognize that tackling is completely different.

If it plays like Madden 11 or 12, no idea. I can't do comparisons like that.

Played as Seattle against Washington. Loved that (like in NCAA) RGIII scrambled on me when there was an opening for 13 yards. On another 3rd down, he started to slide to his left in the pocket before completing a pass to his right in 1/1 coverage. When the pocket starts to collapse or get tight, a mobile QB like RGIII will definitely start to slide and try to find a lane to scramble through.

On normal speed, the defenders were ON my ass when I tried a screen to the point where I barely got the throw off :\

Inserted Russell Wilson and was able to scramble several times. The first scramble I ran into my Center and only got a 7 yard gain but the second I felt the pocket closing in and ran for a good 10 yard run.

Sidney Rice made a SICK one handed catch down the sideline on a deep throw when I saw he had his CB beat.

I've been playing NCAA 13 for a bit now. I get the NCAA games every year, haven't played Madden since the one with McNabb on the cover.

It's a lot of fun but a few things bug me. I swear running the ball is a lot harder this year. I also think there's still the plays where the linebacker or corner fly from nowhere to slap the ball down. The scoring update stuff really bothers me.
And another thing about that. Does every ranked team get upset!? I swear every update during every game is about a ranked team losing.

I haven't had much trouble with LB's or Corners making out of nowhere bats unless I misread the d, and it's more me throwing into the D than like previous years when you'd throw a post route to a guy fifteen yards behind the LB and he'd swat it.

Yeah Re: NCAA... I don't see the psychich LB's or CB's at all. If they swat something down, or make a pick, they are always in position to do so. I can actually drop a pass over the middle over a LB without them swatting it one handed backwards form 10 yards away.

Re: Madden 13 demo, I enjoyed it. The engine feels different, but it still feels like Madden if that makes any sense. I had to tone the speed down to slow, as normal was way way to fast. It will play better with some other slider tweaks I'm sure.

I really don't like how as a WR he was still the one in charge of the play calling.

Madden 13 is pretty great. I'm loving the being able to check out of PA after the snap. Playing defensive line is better and easier now that you can fight out of blocks easier.

Any word if you can keep your Madden Ultimate Team from '12 into '13?

I want to know if Draft and Free Agency finally both work and if the computer AI is smart enough to finally use it correctly. If so, I'll buy it. Everything else seems much improved but if those are still messed up, the game isn't going to be worth a damn.

Somebody had a video of the draft. Looked awesome, sounded awesome (Wingo was discussing the player, their abilities, the college they went to, it was really in-depth).

WR went #1 overall, TE went #2.

Also another thing that bugs me on NCAA 13. I hate playing defense. So I always sim. And man if I get too far ahead suddenly their offense becomes amazing and if I try to sim through defense they just score TD after TD.

I'm just tired of the game being useless after two seasons because the teams make stupid signings and make terrible draft picks. Not just one team, ALL the teams.

Nothing sucks more than seeing a team have a quarterback throw for 3700 yards and 28 touchdowns his rookie season and the first round of the draft the next season, they pick...a QB who starts over him!

Hmmm, I was going to wait till like black friday to pick it up, but from the connected careers aspect it does sound they've at least revamped alot of the game. Also FA/draft for online franchises might be worth it.

Does anyone else use an option attack in NCAA 13? I tried to run the GA Tech style offense with the flexbone and even tried to incorporate the wishbone and it's kind of boring and not very fun. And also the defense are usually so fast it doesn't work. I did it with Nebraska.

I currently have a dynasty going with Mizzou where I am throwing the ball all over the place, running the QB out of the shotgun and pounding with the RB out of the occasional ace formation but mostly shotgun and it's a lot more fun and I'm racking up yards and points.

With the option it was a grind to get 21 points. I don't know how OU scored 50 constantly with the wishbone back in the day honestly.

The Option is all about execution (and in NCAA 13 you need to drastically alter sliders to get "realistic" option play in regards to blocking). If you really watch those Oklahoma, Nebraska (70's or 90's versions) and even GT/Army/Navy/Air Force of today you'll see that it is completely dependent on executing the right read.

With that said... the NCAA creative team effectively smothered the Option because it was too overpowering for online game play, thus it's pretty much broke dick in NCAA 2012 and NCAA 2013 unless you ramp up the Run Block slider to 80-85 and lower the Pass Rush D slider to 20-25. Even then, the plays don't really mirror the real life concepts at all.

People who don't study/understand offensive football were (and still do) calling the Option football "cheese" or "gimmicky" in relation to the NCAA series thus it basically got killed after NCAA 10 or 11.

I have the "season pass" early release of Madden 13.

I think it plays pretty well. Needs some slider tweaking, but I'm having one.

One thing that I don't like is that in Connected Career mode, you can't edit players, no even jersey numbers. So you can have duplicates of the same number on the same field at the same time. It's annoying, and needs to be patched. The game isn't smart enough that say you have AJ Jenkins who is #17, and then trade or sign another WR that was wearing 17, that both Jenkins and the newly signed guy will both wear 17.

Okay. So with the renewed interest in Madden and TRTSM's love of kicking each other in the balls, is this finally the year we start AND finish a Madden league?

It'd be on 360 and is open to anyone that wants in. Teams are FCFS unless someone is okay with PK and BPS taking the Pats and Bills due to their undying homerism...of course, I call Houston if we do decide to run this.

Ideas? Thoughts? Concerns?

The problem with the idea of starting a Madden league is that it doesn't make sense to start one until the season starts and the first roster update is out, but by then alot of the initial interest has died out. If the league is still going on by the time I get done with my current job (can't really do it here, cause the wifi at this hotel is p shitty) then I'll join.

If BPS is the Bills then I'll come in as the Panthers.

I don't think I'll be getting madden until gamefly sends it my way and I'm so far behind on games that it could be a while. So they're all yours fazzle.
