Most of the playoff spots have been clinched in the AFC and NFC so there isn't a lot of drama this week. Also several teams are expected to sit their starters.

For the AFC it's down to Denver, Miami, and Cincinnati. For the NFC, we're just waiting on the NFC South winner (Tampa Bay or Atlanta).

Minnesota and Detroit are challenging for the home field advantage and loser falls to the fifth seed. That’s not important or anything to mention.

America and more importantly, the NFL is hoping Aaron Rodgers has his best ayahuasca and can give to us all what everyone wants and deserves with an Allen-Burrow showdown in the wild card.

I figure Detroit takes it and looks like Minnesota should get Tampa Bay. https://www.espn.com/nfl/playoffs/machine

I have it as KC/Detroit getting byes and Dolphins @ Bills, Chargers @ Ravens, and Steelers @ Texans for the AFC with NFC being Packers @ Eagles, Commanders @ Rams, and Vikings @ Bucs. If that happens, I could see a legitimate case of the Eagles getting knocked out and Washington winning. We'd also get the Harbaughs going to war and a litmus test for whether Tomlin still has it trying to knock out Houston.

Whether you think Detroit takes it or not, it’s still a rivalry game with major playoff implications and certainly worthy of being mentioned in the first post. A divisional game where the winner gets the first seed and bye and the loser goes on the road in the wild card round is the definition of “drama”.

I don't see any scenario where Denver doesn't beat KC's backups and not make the playoffs, but I guess stranger things have happened.

Elliott is interested in joining a playoff team, and his agent thanks Jones and the team for granting his client's release

https://www.cbssports.com/writers/jordan-dajani/

Elliott signed with the Cowboys on a one-year deal this past offseason after a one-year stint with the New England Patriots. In 15 games played this year, Elliott rushed 74 times for 226 yards and three touchdowns and caught 12 passes for 69 yards. Rico Dowdle emerged as Dallas' RB1, surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his carer.

I am sort of cheering the Vikings for perhaps the first time ever. I think it would be "funny" for the Lions to have such an awesome record and not even win the division.

I am looking forward to the Steelers game Sat night. I don't get to watch much NFL and that Division seems to always create bonkers games. Plus playoff implications.

Holmgren's would be/could be dynasty ends with a thud as the refs blow a call and give TO a chance to change NFL history.

Interesting to ponder what could have been had Wolf and Holmgren been able to share glory. Even Wolf conceding that he would step down in 2001 or something might have been enough to temper Mike's desires.

- Packer history changes then as who knows if Packer All time leading rusher Ahman Green ever comes to GB if Coach isn't at the helm in Seattle.
-Maybe Favre stays a little more MVP level instead of gun slinger without anyone who can control him within the organization.
- Freeman, Brooks and Levens all still decline from injuries and what not and Chewy's neck injury could still have gone down so the whole offense from the Super Bowl run would have to be retooled.
- The D was also in need of rebuild, and Fritz Shurmur was about to die. Is there a scenario where Ray Rhodes becomes the DC again instead of HC if Holmgren stays on?
- Randy Moss is still a force of nature, so the Packers are probably second class in the NFC central anyway. I can't recall off hand when Tampa leaves in the re-alignment exactly but it is in this time frame.
- Holmgren wasn't much of a GM in Seattle, so the Packers might not be much better off than Sherman's reign anyway? (Nailed the Hassellbach trade, plus drafting Hutchinson, Walter Jones, Alexander) Obviously that wouldn't be 1:1 with the Packer draft slots.

Forgotten bit on Holmgren. Had Seattle not signed him, he was going to chat with the Ravens. So we get Mike instead of Billick with that D.

Hassellback had to have been an upgrade over Dilfer and Banks!

Things have gotten so bad for the Giants that the CBS affiliate here chose to air Bills/Patriots over Giants/Eagles. I don't recall that ever happening before. Giants always make tv

Bears with a solid, meaningless win today.

Chicago coaching tried everything possible to blow it with bad calls.

Patriots threw away a lot of draft capital today by beating the Bills. They could have traded from 1st to 4th, possibly still got Travis Hunter plus additional picks. Big oof by the Pats.

Patriots fired Jerod Mayo for that epic coaching botch job, lol. Didn't even wait until tomorrow.

Just two years ago the Giants made the playoffs and went to the divisional round. Two years later they are arguably the worst franchise in the sport. I can't think of a more costly good season than the 2022 NY Giants. It did them far more harm than good. And they are still paying for it.

Not sure how I feel about Zac Taylor. I know he’s not going anywhere, but I literally thought the Bengals could win every game they played in this year.

The fact that they have the NFL leader in passing yards, a triple crown winner at WR, and the NFL leader in sacks and don’t make the playoffs is hard to believe.

Almost predictably, Browns announced that Deshaun Watson has had a setback in his recovery from Achilles surgery and his availability for 2025 is in question.

YOU DONT SAY.
