Doing a progressive vs. conservative gimmick with the progressive as the visual heel in 2022 probably requires a bit more nuance than these chuds are capable of.

There has to be some sort of medium ground between this and Mitch Ryder in Chikara running a 2 year long anti-Mexican gimmick against Lince Dorado. Maybe stay away from easy heat like that. But getting subtlety isn't the best quality of wrestling fans.

The world isn't exactly subtle now. But as we're living in pro wrestling in real life, this stuff works less well than it would anyway. This shit just isn't funny, splits an audience, brands people for the rest of their careers, and will not draw in a positive way.

Yeah, I think politics and current events in pro wrestling were appropriate when politics and current events were more dignified than pro wrestling but now that they're at the same level if not lower, it's just instantly irritating.

It's more than that, kinda. It's a very black and white thing now that's also very personal. Like when you have a Flip Gordon or Drake Wuretz doing that shit for real, broadcasting it for all to see, the last thing you want is to see an actual gimmick, if that makes sense. A cheap heat version, with nothing to offer beyond superficially mocking shit that right now certainly isn't funny enough to justify its existence. Especially when the people who pop for it are the worst of all. My humor is quite dark but I just can't find these gimmicks on either end of the spectrum funny.

And in Iowa. What a waste. But it'll be serious MOTY stuff if they're healthy and/or Veda hangs out.

Well, long, long overdue considering they've been back for a year and a half but next weekend, I *should* be going to my first Limitless show since 2020. I bought tickets today (lure of a free bumper sticker with every Black Friday purchase was too much for my wallet to handle) so hopefully everything goes according to plans. I bought tickets to their last show in 2021 then just decided for whatever reason not to go. So hopefully that or some disaster doesn't befell me.

Main event is Ace Romero Vs SLADE in a No DQ match so there's a decent chance I'll get knocked ass over tea kettle.

Last night I went to an Inter Species Wrestling show. Tony Deppen was there, and my daughter loves him. I mentioned to him that we were going to be there and that she was excited to finally meet him. She's been to a bunch of GCW shows that he's been on, but it wasn't until a few months ago that she really became a big fan of his. She was wearing his shirt, and he noticed her in the crowd, and decided to use her in his match. He came over and wanted to pull her over, and I told her to go, but he thought I was telling him no. I told him that I was telling her to go help him, and she was used as a weapon on his opponent. She loved every second of it.

I genuinely don't know whether or not the effect that AEW has had on the Indies is a positive. It just seems really weird that the top matches on indie super shows are matches that would be mid-card matches on Rampage (or a main event on Dark Elevation).

I will say though...I saw WorkHorsemen at Limitless last week against a NYC/NJ indie team named Above The Rest and their work has gotten way more intense and crisp looking since their time in the big leagues. They were already really good before but they've gotten even better. It was one of the best damn tag team matches I've seen live.

It's pretty crazy that someone at Max Caster's level is still doing indies. It kind of reminds me of that period after the Attitude Era started gaining steam but before it was really reflecting in life attendance when WWF would let Mick Foley and The Rock work indie shows if it didn't conflict with their main schedule.

He needs all the experience he can get in the ring. He only has a few years under his belt.

Let me talk up the lvac show from Friday night. Lehigh Valley Apparel Creations is a screen printing company. They also run about six shows a year under the banner of Lehigh Valley Athletic Council. “Let’s Hang Out” took place at Sokols in Bethlehem. A social club with just a ring, no seats, and room for maybe 150-200 people.

Five matches followed by two bands. One of the bands was Ultramantis Black but I didn’t go for the music. First match saw Myung Jae Lee defeat Lucky 13 by DQ. In the second match Clara Carreras pinned Becca.

Third match started the meat of the card. LVAC has run a two year program with a skinny worker named Billy Avery fighting against commissioner Chris Reject. There’s a video to explain this better than I could.

So the commissioner, Blaxstrom and Rex Lawless (Willow Nightingale’s partner) against the Flames of Love. Just a great, fun cheer on the undersized baby faces match. The good guys won, the commissioner got thrown out the front door into the cold, good fun.

Intermission.

Speedball Mike Bailey vs. Cheeseburger. Great match. Probably the best I’ve seen from Cheeseburger. Fist bumped Bailey on his way to the ring and that actually hurt! Fifth and last match was a teen man tag. The Batiri, Little Mean Kathleen, Ultramantis, Delirious versus Dan Champion, Channing Tatum, Boar, Merlok and Veda Scott. With Sydney Bakabella. Again, a lot of fun. Faces won. Long time area heel Dan Champion turned face and slammed Bakabella.

These small shows are good wrestling fun and LVAC draws capacity crowds most shows. Catching Bailey was a highlight but almost anyone they book on these shows is worth seeing.

Sidney rules. He KO'd an idiot who tried to snatch his wig at the last Limitless show.

A few days before Christmas, my brother told me he's coming up from NYC in a few weeks and he bought tickets to the January Limitless show for two of us AND our dad. First wrestling show he's been to in over 20 years probably. He definitely hated taking us to shows by '02 but he occasionally attended WWWF cards as an adolescent and I think secretly enjoyed parts of Attitude Era (especially Chyna and Too Cool). Genuinely curious to see what he thinks of modern indie wrestling. It's a lot different than the shows he brought us to in '01/'02.

He's living proof that often the guys who play the most detestable shitheels are genuine sweet hearts IRL. Also a great salesman at the mercy table, he sweet talked me into buying one of his shirts without thinking about it.
