I finally caught up on G1!

8/14 G1 Tsuji Vs Jeff Cobb
8/18 G1 Finals Sabre Jr Vs Tsuji
6/16 Gabe Kidd Vs Kiyomiya
6/29 Minoru Suzuki Vs Sanshiro Takagi (with many guests, on a train)

Tsuji is still rough around the edges but has so much potential. Sabre finally getting his big win is fantastic. Gabe Kidd has grown so much and the blood in this match really added to it. MiSu/Takagi doing a big comedy match on a train was really funny although this went too long.

7/13 AJ Stles Vs Marufuji

Finally watched this and I liked it a lot but I think it's a bit overrated just for being "AJ back in Japan".

9/21 Channing Thomas vs. Desmond Cole (Limitless - "Nine Lives")

Desmond did something I've never seen, and that's nail a perfect floating kip up after landing a picture-perfect vertical suplex.

10/14 SHINGO VS Ryohei Oiwa
10/14 David Finlay Vs Hirooki Goto
10/14 Sabre Vs Naito

Oiwa has a lot of star potential but Shingo isn't going to just let him walk back in and make a name on his watch. Finley's run with his belt has been a lot of fun and Goto is the perfect face for him to work with. Goto's kids are at ringside for his title shot which makes it even better. Naito works very hard to give Zack his big moment and thankfully Zack's style covers up his problems wonderfully.

10/30 Bucks Vs Private Party

For all my complaints about the Bucks (so very many), they did a great job at putting PP over here and making their big title win seem really special.

KoseiFujita/RobbieEagles Vs FrancescoAkira/TJP, 11/4/24
DOUKI vs Master Wato, 11/4/24
David Finlay Vs Taichi, 11/4/24
Zack Sabre Jr. Vs Shingo Takagi, 11/4/24

The Jr tag is probably the best they've done in a few years that I can think of. Fujita should be a star. Douki has been on a great run. Finlay is still hard to take seriously as a top heel but he's improved a ton in ring and the SANADA heel turn was executed really well. Sabre/Shingo is always going to be great.

Yuma Aoyagi Vs Ren Ayabe, 10/22/24
MiSu Vs Shibata 9/3

MiSu Vs Shibata is all about the emotion. It's Shibata's first match in K. Hall since his forced retirement and everyone is super emotional. The match is pretty much what you expect from these two at this point. The after match is what everyone is talking about. Incredibly fucking emotional. Suzuki brings Takayama out in his wheelchair and he and the entire crowd beg him to get to his feet and fight Suzuki one last time in the ring. Everyone is in tears.

Aoyagi Vs Ayabe is a really good Triple Crown match. Ayabe has a ton of potential. He sort of reminds me of a more awkward Okada with his size and look.

Instead of starting a new thread every year, let's just keep using the same thread. I'm always way behind on the stuff I'm watching for one thing and I'm not going to bump threads that are old to put a match in it.

1/4/25 Takeshita Vs SHINGO
1/4/25 Finlay Vs Tsuji

Tsuji should really have been in Shota's spot on the card but that's a whole different thing.

Matches I've really enjoyed from AEW since I am going through the 2024 tv episodes on MAX:

Swerve Strickland vs Shelton Benjamin - Dynamite 10/30

Kyle Fletcher vs Kommander - Collision 11/2

The Death Riders (PAC/Claudio/Yuta) vs The Conglomeration (Mark Briscoe/Ishii/O'Reilly) - Collision 11/9

FTR vs Brody/Malakai - Dynamite 11/13

Mariah May vs Anna Jay - Collision 11/16

Claudio Castagnoli vs Darby Allin - Dynamite 11/20

Brody King vs Darby Allin - Dynamite 11/27

Claudio Castagnoli vs Ricochet- Dynamite 11/27

Kyle Fletcher vs "The Beast" Mortos - Collision 11/30

Jericho/Ishii from 11/27 Dynamite is definitely not good enough for the list, but I really liked it. Want to mention it because Jericho showed to me that he still had a little left in the tank. Him doing an Ishii slugfest match is way better than him trying to wrestle the same style as 20 years ago.

Will update with more as I keep watching.

2025 AEW TV matches I've really liked:

Hangman Page vs Orange Cassidy - Dynamite 1/1

Daniel Garcia vs Mark Briscoe - Collision 1/4

Will Ospreay vs Buddy Matthews - Dynamite 1/8

Kenny Omega vs Brian Cage - Dynamite - 1/15

Powerhouse Hobbs vs Jon Moxley - Dynamite 1/15

Hangman Page Vs Christopher Daniels - Collision 1/18

Konosuke Takeshita vs Katsuyori Shibata - Collision 1/25

Briscoe/Garcia has one of the best sit-out powerbombs I've ever seen. It also exposes how green and bland Garcia is, who looks like a miniature Matt Morgan.

I'm not high on Garcia and his unemotive face and lack of charisma will work against him if he's gonna get a big push. I think he's really good in the ring and has chemistry with Mark Briscoe. But everyone does pretty much.

He's more the future Lance Storm than the future Bryan Danielson as he's been unfairly hyped as. He's a solid midcard hand, but he is over so he'll get more chances to get to the next level.
