I like the Summerslam 2000 sprint the most but 14 is by far the best objectively, I think. But I gotta be in the right mood to appreciate it.

I remember them having a weirdly good Smackdown match in 2008 when Taker was the champ and in pure workrate mode. It was around the time he had that fun match with green ass Festus.

I remember liking the one inferno match where they escaped and Taker caught Kane's big boot and dropped his leg on the fire. Same night he lit Steph's teddy bear on fire.

Man, the dip in quality from 14 to 15 was appalling...

WM 3 is still playing on a loop on the WWE Vault for the past 2 weeks, so I've dipped in frequently.

- I wonder what Piper thought when he was told his final match would feature Brutus Beefcake doing a run in to save him AND then doing the haircut for him? I assume by the time they announced the hair vs hair stip Piper knew the deal.
- After the initial heel buffoonery, Piper does get his ass whipped pretty good, with Jimmy Hart cheating to help Adonis keep the advantage. Piper is punch drunk against the ropes taking Adonis' blows and begging for more. Hart blinds him with the perfume, and then Adonis locks on a shitty looking sleeper. Adonis lets it go early because he's a dummy. Beefcake wakes Piper up while Adonis gloats. Piper locks on a shitty looking sleeper and wins.
- Steamboat's big celebration ends quickly. He is scooped up by Steele and put on the ring cart. '
- The famously well scripted match seems to actually have a bit of a botched finish. It sure seems like Savage was supposed to ding himself with the ring bell after Steele shoves him off the ropes. Then Steamboat's cradle finish actually fails to wrap of Savage's legs.
-Savage's anguished selling on the ring cart is perhaps the best of the night.
- Points to Slick for keeping his shredded suit on for Sheik/Volkoff after Tito's handiwork.
- The director missed an early high spot in the Bulldogs match as Davey Boy pressed Davis over his head and launched him on the Harts on the floor.
- Andre waves to the crowd during his entrance. I've always been a bit confused by his thinking here. He was a stoic monster since January, even in his promo from this PPV. His wave, to me at least, did not seem to be dismissive in nature, as I would expect.
- Bob Uecker, God Bless him, but his way of saying "Hogan" while ring announcing is awkward "HO-GONE!"
- The match is made by the crowd heat, but it is psychologically strong. Andre is big and can't be knocked off his feet. Hogan hurts his back early and Andre wears his ass out with big forearms and a bear hug. The fight on the floor is the worst part of the match. Andre tries a head butt but misses and hits the post. The director must have expected it to look like shit since they used a camera angle to avoid it. Hogan peels the mat away and goes for.... A PILEDRIVER? What? The spot is made worse by Hogan chicken shitting the bump and clinging to Andre for life until he could grab the apron to take the softest bump possible.
Andre tosses him in the ring and immediately misses a kick that sets up the big clothesline *AXE BOMBER?* that finally knocks Andre down for the 1st time 12 mins in. Hulk up. I was surprised Hogan didn't add some punches to knock Andre 1st, instead Andre limps up and walks into the slam. GIAGANTIC pop. Legdrop 1-2-3.
- Hogan's celebration is actually layered. His first reaction was to thank God for somehow winning the biggest challenge of his life. Then he does a little strutting like "Heck yes, I'm the man!" Then he finally turns his attention to Andre, who is glaring and pointing at him while screaming. Hogan defiantly lays out the title on the mat and begs Andre to come get some. Andre retreats to the ring cart. Heenan sulks as his fortune is lost. Andre continues to point and scream at Hogan as the ramp rolls off. Hogan finally starts an extended posedown. Then moves to the ring cart which rises up as we follow the Hulk posing in the spotlight all the way back to the Gorilla area.
