I saw people speculating online if Lorne wrote the Samberg line about anxiety in the Digital Short as a dig at Bill Hader for not appearing. He's been outspoken about how much of a toll SNL took on his mental health.

I did like Will Ferrell in the Scared Straight segment only because he made Eddie Murphy crack but overall the show just felt long and tedious. I wish they had done a couple more musical guests as it felt like they were overly extending the skits to make up for that. I also liked the Bill Murray Weekend Update bit.

I completely skipped the Amy/Tina Celebs stuff and wasn't surprised that Republicans are reacting negatively to Tom Hanks on Black Jeopardy... it's like they've never watched the show.

A lot of people here tuned in for the special, but out of curiosity how many people still watch the show regularly? They must be getting decent ratings to still be on but I don’t know anyone personally that watches it. Most younger people don’t seem to have the same association with it that we do, meaning that it feels like an old media institution almost to us, but something they aren’t even familiar with.

I still watch regularly, get some laughs out of it and there are occasionally great sketches which is all I can ask for. You're probably bang on though that if I was younger I'd seek out the viral moments and not much else.

I enjoyed the 50th for the most part but the accompanying documentaries were the true highlight especially Questlove's music doc.

I haven't watched live episode since 2019 maybe (that shitty Steve Carrell one). But the series has meant a lot at different points in my life and created some of the most prominent comedy faces for me. Every five years or so means something in a weird way. That and I just am a big fan of pop culture and think it's ability to capture time periods is really fucking cool even when it sucks.

Yeah Dana sounded really bad on Fly on the Wall like I mentioned. Hope he's okay. He'll turn 70 this year.

I can't remember the last time I watched live. Watch reels on Facebook and Instagram and I will find the Weekend Update segment on Peacock but make little to no effort to watch the full episode
