"Mario" also made over $372 million overseas. "Project Hail Mary" didn't suffer much of a drop, and those are good numbers for "The Drama".

Next week is "You, Me and Tuscany", "Faces of Death", Bollywood in "Booth Bangala" and Anime in "ChaO". The week after is Lee Cronin's The Mummy. The 24th is "Michael" and a wide release for "Mother Mary."

"The Drama" is a bit of a sleeper hit, "You, Me and Tuscany" did about what was expected and not bad for "Exit 8".

Next week is Lee Cronin's "The Mummy", "Normal" (new action movie starring Bob Odenkirk) and "4 Kids Walk into a Bank." The week after is "Michael", "Over Her Dead Body", a wide release for "Mother Mary" and "Desert Warrior. May starts with "The Devil Wears Prada 2", "Hokum" (that one looks good), anime in "The Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: The Movie" and of course the most anticipated film of the year

Mario Galaxy is dropping fast. I thought 1 billion was certain, but it seems to be falling behind the first in every market. The third Friday for this was around 7.4 million, which is around half of the first movie's third Friday gross of 14 million. Seems like people are holding this to higher standards than Illumination's Minions series and actually want good movies. They have to make a third Mario movie good or around the same level of the pretty solid Sonic movies. To me, audiences have shown that they want a quality Mario movie, and not just slop that will make fun TikTok reels. Fans of the Mario Galaxy game and the Rosalina character are pretty furious how this movie handled those game's stories by just putting in more cameos and references.

Otoh, the legs for Project Hail Mary are insane. It's closing in on Mario's daily grosses and is a few weeks older. It made 5.2 on Friday and it's crazy how small the gap is between this and Mario. PHM is having a crazy ass run similar to Sinners last year, but will end up with much more altogether.

Mother Mary (A24) $168,063

Not a huge week (depending on who you ask, "Mummy" is either a bomb or did alright, as it cost $22 million). "Normal" is the widest release yet for its studio (Magnolia), and for a movie that opened in 500 theaters, "Bhooth Bangla" did alright.

Next week is "Michael", a wide release for "Mother Mary" and "Over Your Dead Body". May starts with "The Devil Wears Prada 2", that Godawful looking "Animal Farm" movie from Andy Serkis, "Hokum" and anime in "The Day I Got Turned into a Slime: The Movie", and the week after is a Billie Eilish concert film and "The Sheep Detectives". May 17th is "Mortal Kombat II", "Obsession", "Is God Is" and "In the Grey"
