The Boys on Amazon Prime

The latest episode with the
Herogasm event and the Soldier Boy + Butcher vs. Homelander mini-fight
was fantastic shit. Even the opening disclaimer was hilarious and on-point.

Got through the first 3 eps of Gen V and I'm liking the characters/plot. It's definitely in the vein closer to the past 2 seasons of The Boys (if not more vulgar/graphic in some cases).

really enjoyed this. They tied this in really well with the "main" series as well in a way that I think makes both series more interesting rather than taking away from either. The ending setup the next season while still paying off enough things to be satisfying.

Awesome stuff, loved the series and the way it tied into The Boys while being its own thing. I liked that
Cate & Sam went on the "villainous superhero who think they are in the right" route while the others opposed them and then the Vought news spin on turning them into the positive heroes not unlike Marie early in the season.

Watched the first 3 episodes of Season 4. A lot of great stuff and excited what the rest of the season brings.

New Black Noir is amazing, love this guy!

Sister Sage is playing a dangerous game thinking she can manipulate Homelander. Gotta think at some point he's just gonna be like "ok, I've had enough of this" when he gets an inkling she's coming for his spot and hollows out her face.

Loving this season. The parody of the big Marvel/DC announcement's was killing me "we just finished the final reshooting of reshoots"! Firecracker and Sage are great additions. New Black Noir is very funny.

Really liked this season but I do think this was the weakest season.

The Boys has never been subtle but I felt like they dropped any pretense and just went for a lot of the lowest hanging fruit with the "THIS IS TRUMP" kind of stuff. A lot of that is still funny but I thought it ruined a lot of character stuff they'd built. Homelander was a lot less interesting this season. I ended up getting tired of Firecracker very fast. Sage was still very good.

It felt like they crammed all the most important shit into the end of the last episode which was too bad. There's still a lot to like but I really hope they have a great ending planned for the series.

Yeah. Felt like the only thing missing was a writer for the show, sitting in the couch next to me with constant elbow nudging, and “hey. Did you get it?”

Upside to it is that it spawned a discussion with some younger coworkers about how all media is political, but that modern shows and movies just aren't as good at nuance.

And then why they feel the need to be as blunt with their ideas as they are.

And why maybe voting for the guy who gets Neo-Nazis to vote for him should be making you re-assess your position.

I mean, Conservatives/MAGA are not subtle or nuanced in the least, they're just right up in your face about how abhorrent they are, so it maps 1:1 with the real world. Girlfriend has a bunch of friends who are trans, so I was asking her if it bothered her watching the show with Homerlander et al hitting the anti-trans stuff so hard, she basically said no because that's exactly what is happening in real life.

Gen V Season 2 Teaser dropped. Glad to see the show came back for a 2nd Season (was worried when the actor passed that they'd shelve it)

The Boys/Gen V continues to be scarily prescient. The University setting for Gen V makes it even more impactful right now. They're compensating pretty well so far for having one of their leads dying. It's obvious how much it has impacted the entire structure of the series.

Yeah, caught up with episode 4 but his loss can clearly be felt. I do like the lead head guy and his possible future though I'm kind of waiting for things to kick into a higher gear? I did notice they are definitely leaning into how far they can push the envelope re: nudity though. I don't want to say some scenes come off near pornographic but well...
