The Resistance: Demo(n)crats in the Era of Trump

They're already trying to bury the ascending Hogg wing of the party, decrying his efforts to primary shitty Democrats in safe districts. "The party is meant to be a neutral arbiter!"

HAR

HAR

HAR.

Anyway, Hogg's plan is to put up candidates who are exclusively under 35. He's also made it clear it isn't an age thing, it's matter of whether they're helping the progressive cause and fielding candidates who will actually FIGHT this nightmare.

The party is going to neuter him like they did Bernie, Dean, Hillary (first time) and countless others.

The vast majority of the party is just Repub Lite and they've already got people on Twitter reacting to AOC's rallies and images pointing out there are no African-Americans in the photos and that she's just a female Bernie 2.0.

Using DEI rules to get rid of a younger member is grotesquely funny. Couldn't make it up if you tried.

I don't think Whitmer's strategy of pandering to trump will help her in 2028.

IDK, Trump just had a huge landslide victory in November and is beloved by the vast majority of Americans. I say the Democrats should avoid any direct criticism of our president and should devote their 2026 campaign to promising to implement His agenda, but smarter and more sensibly.

If you thought Fetterman was awful, this article won't sway your opinion, but my God this guy sucks. Some highlights

-Literally walked into traffic
-Has alienated a lot of people-his wife, colleges and even Zionist groups like J-Street-with his anti Palestinian views.
-He at one point compared Palestinians to "sour milk" and said we need to "kill them all."
-At one point skipped his medical regime after a mental health episode
-Once skipped his son's birthday and is emotionally abusive to his wife.

And so much more.

these Jill Stein dummies still out there paving over bodies to build Gaza Lago

I'm sure AOC would work tirelessly to stop it herself.

Jill Stein got like 0.9% of the vote in the last election. Nobody cares about her. Besides, the only time she got attention in the last election was when her pick for vice president was caught saying transphobic (and other stupid) things.

lol give them even the slightest criticism and they will punish you.
This is why they'll continue to fail. You have a ready-made generational leader, maybe not on the grand scale but certainly one that has proven they can get some shit done, one whose stance on gun reform can literally be backed by them SURVIVING ONE OF THE WORST SCHOOL SHOOTINGS IN HISTORY, and look what you do to them. You try to shut them up because they want to hold you accountable to your platform.

There's an entire generation of potential Dem voters - not registered Dems, but definitely more likely to vote blue - that are going to remember this. You fucking cucks.

Funny how the national "progressive" party fails to evolve, ain't it?

We all knew about this in 2020, we shouldn't let people lie to us and pretend it only just happened last year. In fact I was reading through the 2020 Election thread just now and most of us are non stop shitting on him.
There's something darkly amusing about them clearly preferring Trump to Bernie, to now basically saying they prefer an openly fascist presidency to anyone who offers even the slightest criticism/is younger than an 80 year old cancer victim. They love having power, but they refuse to do anything when they have it.

Some elected Democrats definitely prefer Trump to Bernie, but they also would prefer Bush to Biden.

Some of the shit I saw Hakeem Jeffries say about Qatar yesterday was like he thinks we should bomb them for the crime of disagreeing with Israel while hosting one of our largest air bases. The criticism about no longer wasting money bombing the Houthis was the same thing. I barely recognize what political party I'm looking at anymore, but I'm under no illusions. People have this idea that Trump being gone will make it impossible for the Republicans to win anymore. Problem is some of these 'Democrats' are going to go back to the GOP and their right wing foreign policy as soon as Trump's gone.

Most Democrats also don't believe that the ACA was an acceptable stopgap bill, they’ve accepted it as the end game for healthcare in this country. We have accepted the limitations of the food stamps program and allow it to shrink every year. Our party has lost all of its ambition. Somewhere along the line our leaders decided that it’s ok to leave a certain amount of people in the dust and accept that we can’t help them. That number of people grows larger every year. We’ve been infiltrated from the top down by Republicans whose sole Democratic attributes are believing in elections and hating Trump.

The next continuation about this is that they think they can tell you a new Big Lie about Biden. 'We didn't know he was retarded' but they literally sent Steven Spielberg out there to try and coach him up into being able to act his way through appearances. They tell you 'he was going to be in a wheelchair at the end of his second term' and these pieces of shit lie to you and say 'why isn't he in a wheelchair now then?' These fuckwits won't even tell it to you straight, he's only been out of office for four months and he disappeared, of course you can say he's not in a wheelchair yet. It's a constant obfuscation tactic like you'd see in right wing media, you just have to be smart enough to see through it. These same assholes who propped him up and cost us this election are trying to shirk responsibility for their failures and stick us with more shitty manchurian candidates who worship the Cheneys and beg for GWB to endorse their candidate.

The thing that really worries you is that the Republicans will win again when Trump's not in office. Somehow, someway, you have to learn how to cope with that. My way of coping is to wish for the Democrats to shove tons of shit down the countries throat before they lost again.

You just don't get it, 909. We have to say that people deserve equal treatment and protections, but we don't have to actually believe it.

"What do you think they can pass with a GOP controlled Congress?"

About as much as they actually passed when they controlled it.

People don’t want to admit that the GOP controls Congress like this because Democrats gave up on trying to help people. You can always say it’s one bad Democrat holding them back, ask yourselves how we wound up in that position. Too many Republicans joined the party and they know that Democrats won’t help anyone, are in favor of the status quo and they’re cool with that. That is the answer.

IIRC she's the "anti-fat is genocide" woman that was getting mocked online a while ago. But she wears CM Punk shirts so she's cool?

She's also supposedly an online influencer/Tik Tok personality, and I'm wary of that so good luck. The third guy just seems to be a standard establishment lib.

This is a reminder why the whole "we need a liberal Joe Rogan" argument is dumb. It's because

1.) He's awful, but he doesn't just appeal to conservatives. He also gets to talk to actual actors, directors, musicians etc on his show and appeals to people who think UFOs and Bigfoot are cool, which is something none of the other conservative personalities can do. Also don't forget the party and liberals attacking Bernie for appearing on his show to now saying they need their equivalent of him. That reeks of desperation.

2.) A big part of Trump's appeal is that a lot of the people who voted for him don't see him as just another Republican or even a Republican at all. Before Trump, the image of Republicans was mostly a bunch of buttoned up white guys who went to places like Harvard and lectured people about the economy. The bigotry was there, but it wasn't attached to anyone interesting. Trump running for and becoming president essentially killed that.

3.) There can't be a liberal Joe Rogan because he's actually been critical of Israel and their ongoing genocide in Gaza. The Dems absolutely refuse to acknowledge or condemn this, which is also one of the reasons they lost the election. When the guy who used to advertise Fleshlight is better on this issue than you, then there's a problem.

4.) What the fuck does the Democratic party even stand for? After the election, we've learned more about Biden's health, infighting, members of the party throwing trans people under the bus, seen them continue to suck up to Israel (which is especially funny since it's incredibly obvious Netanyahu seems to prefer Trump to the Dems) and now inviting a literal white supremacist who was attached to Project 2025 to "rap with the kids" or whatever. They aren't a party in crisis. They are a party that believes in nothing.

5.) "Aw man, that's crazy! You ever tried DMT?"

The democratic Rogan is Destiny. Which is really funny for a ton of reasons.

Related, but I know too many Hasan Piker fans in real life and it's fucking terrifying.
