The Trump Presidency: Now auditioning for 51st State

Fortunately, we won't be marrying the Dems by voting for them, we will simply be voting for them.

Not demanding better from the Dems (and the GOP) is one of the reasons things have gotten so bad. Yes, obviously they are the least worst alternative, but that's no reason to not expect and demand they (and if not then replacement candidates) have better policies and stances.

A number of Euro countries are sending troops to Greenland, which will hopefully cause Trump to fold or back burner this again.

There's a wide and deadly space between refusing to vote for Harris (for example) because of a perfection litmus test & voting for Harris (for example) and then holding her, and congress, state legislators and governors, etc, accountable. Elect them and then, if they don't meet expectations, not of perfections but a failure to meet reasonable goals and those basic expectations, primary them or move on in other to the next to get another improvement instead of a catastrophic failure. Like what just happened one and a half years ago. But too many showed themselves too dumb, gullible, and weak (yes, it is all three) to vote for a woman.

If we could do that:

Renee Good is still alive.
Immigrants, the backbone and all of the marrow of this country, are still here and propping us up.
Universities and K-12 schools aren't being physically and psychologically terrorized like it's the goddam Vietnam era.
I wouldn't have to live with the memory of how much pain a woman was in while I comforted and aided her (but, as it is our terrible reality, I am glad I was there and wouldn't do it different if it happened a thousand times).

Finally, a piece of broccoli is affordable and it happened on day (like three hundred fifty) one.

Clear majority consider the first year a failure.
Public opinion on nearly every aspect of President Donald Trump’s first year back in the White House is negative, a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS finds, with a majority of Americans saying Trump is focused on the wrong priorities and doing too little to address cost of living.

A majority, 58%, calls the first year of Trump’s term a failure.

There’s hardly any good news in the poll for Trump or the Republican Party entering a critical midterm year, with the president’s handling of the economy looming as the defining issue in key House and Senate races.

Asked to choose the country’s top issue, Americans pick the economy by a nearly two-to-one margin over any other topic. The poll suggests Trump is struggling to prove that he’s addressing it. And it finds broad concerns over Trump’s use of presidential power and his efforts to put his stamp on American culture.

Views of economic conditions have remained stable — and largely negative — for the past two years, with about 3 in 10 rating the economy positively. What’s changed in the latest poll is the increased pessimism about the future: Just over 4 in 10 expect the economy to be good a year from now, down from 56% just before Trump was sworn in last January.

A 55% majority say that Trump’s policies have worsened economic conditions in the country, with just 32% saying they’ve made an improvement. Most, 64%, say he hasn’t gone far enough in trying to reduce the price of everyday goods. Even within the GOP, about half say that he should be doing more, including 42% among Republicans and Republican-leaners who describe themselves as members of the “Make America Great Again” movement.

Much of the public doubts that Trump is prioritizing their interests. Just 36% now say he has had the right priorities, down from 45% near the beginning of his term. Only one-third of Americans now say they believe that Trump cares about people like them, down from 40% last March and the worst rating of his political career.

Only 37% say that Trump puts the good of the country above his personal gain, and 32% say that he’s in touch with the problems ordinary Americans face in their daily lives. That includes more than one-quarter of those who approve of Trump’s presidency overall but don’t feel he’s in touch with their problems.

“Even if he is doing some good in areas, he comes across very self-seeking and (shows a) lack of caring about the common good of our citizens,” wrote one person, an independent from Oklahoma, who responded to the poll.

Fewer than half say that Trump has the stamina and sharpness to serve effectively, and just 35% call him someone they’re proud to have as president.
Yet somehow that 35% will continue to hold everyone by the short and curlies.

lol...

"During the 2024 campaign, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon had been floated for Treasury secretary by the president, but their relationship has since soured. Trump in August went after Dimon’s bank, as well as Bank of America, accusing them of discriminating against him in recent years."

"US President Donald Trump is set to announce a plan that would let Americans use their retirement savings for down payments on homes.

National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett, who hinted at the plan on Friday, offered few details about how withdrawals from US workplace retirement accounts - known as 401(k)s - would work.

Only about 55% of Americans have retirement accounts, of which only a subset are 401(k)s, according to government estimates. Low income workers are the least likely to have access to the plans. Literally because such workers are usually part-time and have no access to full benefits/401K through their companies as a result.

Jason Richardson, senior research director for the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, said that proposal and this latest plan, "sound good but don't actually address the core affordability and supply problems in housing".

"This isn't a targeted assistance program for people who need help with down payments - it's giving people who already have substantial retirement savings more purchasing power, which will likely just drive home prices up further," he wrote in an email."

But at least that genocidal Harris-idal maniac isn't on that esteemed board of peace

I fear Patel, a stupid person given great power, knows what he's doing when he purges agents who worked on prior Trump cases, etc.

US President Donald Trump has once again questioned whether NATO allies would “be there” if the United States “ever needed them,” baselessly claiming that the alliance’s troops “stayed a little back” from the front lines in Afghanistan.

A rare case of CNN actually directly calling him out. This is one that really annoys me because it completely shits on all the people who died fighting. This has also united the NATO allies in outrage as everyone is wanting and apology.

"The results here tonight are a mandate for me to work as hard as I can to oppose your agenda, to fight back against where you’re taking this country and to investigate your crimes,” Menefee said.

Menefee will fill the remainder of Turner’s term, which ends when a new Congress is sworn in to office in January 2027.

After Saturday, yet another election lies ahead in little over a month. Both Menefee and Edwards are on the ballot again on March 3, when they will face Democratic Rep. Al Green in another election — this one a Democratic primary in a newly drawn 18th congressional district, for the full term that starts in 2027."
