I finished Act I last night. Insta-fail stealth missions are the dirt worst. Otherwise I'm liking it so far, but nothing has really hooked me in yet.

Just finished Act 1 myself. i'm quite enjoying it so far. I don't really get what all of the hate that is out there is about. I guess it was a bit overhyped, and people had it in their minds as something completely different, but so far it's totally what I'm expecting. (I can't at all fully expect a 'Next Gen' experience with a game that also has versions for PS3/360) I guess those 2012 videos really fucked people's minds lol.

I can definitely say Ubisoft has a formula though...which is great for me, because I love it. I can very much see the fingerprints of that AC, Far Cry system. With unlocking parts of the map, and the special city locations and stuff. And I like exploring and finding and completing those sorts of things.

Idk how much I'm really feeling the Chicago setting. There's a couple parts of the map that feel way to similar to GTA IV to me. (Even though that was NY, but still) But it is a freakin' gorgeous game nontheless on the PS4.

One peeve I do have though, is that this game could have a little bit more in depth tutorial for a lot of the missions. Or a better way to get to the tutorial rather? Idk, but I've had a few of the side missions that i started and I had no idea what I was doing until I failed, and then the instructions popped up afterwards. Or how I didn't even know the 'stealth' insta fail mission, was an insta fail mission until I actually failed it lol. Especially since the previous stealth mission, I just cleverly used cover to duck bullets and then beat the shit out of people with my baton no problem.

I gotta say, I'm kinda not feeling this game at all. Feels extremely repetitive and I'm only about 5 hours into it. I also can't bring myself to care about the story, like at all. =\

multiple people on my facebook feed have commented that Watch Dogs only makes them appreciate GTA 5 that much more. Not sure how close the games feel to one another.

This game LOOKED cool from the start but I am hesitant to get it until the price drops.

I would wait. I should've waited. But a few friends got it and I caved as well.

I am enjoying running around and climbing up to hack those ctOS towers and trying to actually sneak around and hack things to get through strongholds instead of blasting your way through is challenging (though the silenced pistol you get through UPlay makes even that that kinda trivial).

It certainly doesn't do much new, but it takes elements from their other franchises and mixes them together nicely. The story is pretty meh, I'll agree to that.

I'm not getting the backlash this game is getting (well, I do: it's the internet). The story has picked up in act II and I've found most of the Digital Trips are actually quite fun.

I find myself loving this game. I get the argument that it's repetitive. But it's repetitive in the same way that Assassin's Creed IV is repetitive, and that's no doubt a GOTY candidate.

Those 4 exclusive missions for the PS4/(maybe XBONE?) really show off the game well. They took pretty much every mission type in the game and mashed them all into one mission. I think it'll be a case of the people who enjoy it, REALLY enjoy it, and the people who don't will absolutely hate it/find any little bug or glitch they can to harp on.

The backlash Watchdogs is getting i believe is because once again a game was overhyped. It was promised as a gritty, OMGZ HAXORZ!11! GTA hybrid and i often find myself forcing myself to use the hacking to invade enemy strongholds rather than go guns blazing.

Its suffering as well because of the delay from the original launch and in that time people played GTA V and now annoyingly compare the two.

Im on Act III and the plot really is picking up, but i will be trading in once i complete. Really dont see any replay factor TBH.

Aiden goes down fast so straight shooting is more frustrating and besides, using lures to bring three guys to a steam pipe and then setting it off under them is a lot more satisfying than a headshot. And then throwing down an IED and blowing up the car with their reinforcements.

Yea, half the time I find myself not even walking into the restricted area before taking out half the guards. I just find a camera, wait for multiple guards to get near a guard with an explosive, or wait for the guard with an explosive to walk near a car for extra effect. Or yea I use a combo of the Lure/IED. I definitely have had fun doing things like that, and haven't really felt like I had to force myself to use it.

And then whoever's left...I typically just use focus and headshot them all with Burst Fire Sniper Rifle or whatever it is. Sniper/AK.

edit- One random thing about this game that is really irritating me is these damn hats. A lot of the outfits aren't the greatest anyway. But some of them are made even worse by that damn fitted cap, which really doesn't fit the personality of the character. And that military style hat. I'd change his outfits a lot more if more of them had the regular old baseball cap he wears.

Again, instant fail stealth missions are a HORRIBLE idea. At least give me a fighting chance to slip away and try again.

I kinda like the Dark Souls-ish "invasions". They haven't happened that much to me though.

So I finished the main campaign.

The story is terrible. Just terrible.
Aiden is Solid Snake without any personality and "HIS NIECE WAS KILLED CARE FOR HIM" isn't enough of a motivator. At least make it his daughter that gets killed and his wife be kidnapped for half the game (while still joking around with him on the phone, seemingly in little danger until the story requires it). Clara is a love interest because there should be a love interest in this story. T-Bone is a sidekick because there should be a hackin'-wise sidekick in this story. There should be FOUR VILLAINS that come and go in this story because five people probably wrote this thing. Why in the middle of the story have a rival hacker take control of ctOS and screw with you when the main villain (I guess) is a hacker and does the SAME FUCKING THING to you in the final mission. Then Jordi turns on you at the last second....I guess. After disappearing for like an entire ACT of the story.

Wait for this to go on sale and just blow through the story because the open world stuff is a lot more fun.

I literally played the game on mute while listening to podcasts I cared so little for the story. Liked the game though.

Saw this on Kotaku but apparently a modder has found that the E3 graphics can be obtained on the PC version by installing his mod. Because they are actually in the PC version of the game. Which can be accessed via his mod, though all it does is tweak it. As its all in the game and referred to in the code as "E3" and "E3_Theatre". Modder says it negates the stuttering if you have it.

Just a piece of advice from a coder. There are only 2 reasons for that. 1) It was never meant to look like that because you don't have the time to make sure it runs correctly, so you need to take it all out. 2) You are going to release a "patch" designed to make the game "better".

Since all of it is still in game, yeah. Its reason 2.

You know what? The whole "invasion" aspect of the game is probably my favorite part. Hiding in a car while you watch the other person frantically profile everyone on the street and then just driving off after you are done with your deed is the best. I swam from Pawnee to the downtown area chasing someone last night because they hacked me.

Finished Watch Dogs tonight, well the main story at least. Overall I enjoyed the game quite a bit. Not perfect by any means, and the last mission almost made me throw my controller in rage. Yeesh.

Glad I stuck around through the credits to get the chance to off Maurice. I guess I could have walked away too, but it felt much better to put a bullet in his head at the end.
