We're not ganging up on you for the sake of ganging up on you. It's just your posts seem to illicit a very noticeable response.

We should, but man, you walked right into that one.

Yeah, The Avett Brothers thing has to lose steam at some point. I saw them live a little while ago and they were okay. You can only play up the tattooed-but-full-of-blues gig for so long.

It'd be pretty easy to blame I and Love and You on Rick Rubin when you consider that there's a lot of poppy-piano-ballad things on here ("Head Full of Doubt, Road Full of Promise" I can say with some certainty is the worst song the Avett Brothers have ever written), but I'm told that Rubin is notoriously hands off, so maybe this their own doing. The worst part is that it sounds like there might be no turning back—the only traces of bluegrass on this record are...uh, fuck, it's kinda like when you microwave chicken wings and you can kinda taste the pizza rolls you microwaved the other day.

Que?

Come on, VX. Big Green shouldn't have to accomodate you. Speak English so the white man can communicate with you.

"Big Green really fucked himself in this thread. That asshole!"

BPSS came closest to getting it right. Que bueno!

I roughly approximated it from translating it through Google, the thought of which apparently escaped Big Green.

"Comemierda" is actually more equivalent to "shithead", isn't it?

Comemierda literally translates to "shit eater", which is sort of a saying only in Cuban/Puerto Rican/Dominican Spanish. Depending on tone it could translate to either shithead/asshole or it could mean idiot, slacker, or fool. It's a pretty versatile catch-all phrase.

The direct translation is "Hey, Big Green really got fucked in this thread, didn't he? What a shiteater!"

I tried Babelfish and it didn't work on that phrase.

It seems as if for the last 20 years now Country music, at least what sells, is a combo of either Big Stadium Rock or Pop music, but the singer just puts a little t'wang in their voice, and suddenly it's country music.

In terms of song structure, country music isn't all that different from pop, rock, rhythm and blues, sometimes even hip-hop. Why do people keep going "HOLY SHIT I JUST REALIZED THIS IS LIKE OTHER MUSIC BUT VAGUELY TWANGY" as if it's some sort of revelation?

If anything, its arch is most like Heavy Metal. Some severe niche audiences, but large widespread fanbases that gravitate towards the least dense examples of the genre. Inherent negativity, substance abuse, emphasis on guitar chops, and vocals that define whether a musician or band is or is not an example of the genre. Two sides of the same grimy coin.

I mean, you're working with verses, choruses, bridges, and a small handful of chord progressions; same as it ever was. Are you expecting washboards?

Once I got past the complete change of style, I kind of like the new Avett album. Well, really I like the second half starting with "My Heart is a Kickdrum". "January Wedding" is cute and enjoyable and "The Perfect Space" is a good track from the first half. Rest I can do without.

"Kick Drum Heart" rules, best song on the record. "Laundry Room" is pretty ok and then I guess I like "Slight Figure of Speech" but then, like, what the fuck is "It Goes On and On"? Is the first line to that song "I lost my tears in your car"? whaaaaaaaaaat.

"Cute" is the right word for "January Wedding", I think, but, you know, what?. Is that an adjective we could have anywhere on, say, Four Thieves Gone?

Good point. That is a pretty big swing (although, some of Emotionalism probably foreshadowed that a bit).

I'm pretty sure Talk on Indolence is my favorite track of any album.
