Took me five as well, had to use the fourth guess to eliminate some letters. Took me some time though. Pretty rewarding to hit it, once I saw the letters available in guess five it came pretty quickly. Still felt like a fluke.

I think we have a natural inclination to avoid guesses that include the same letter twice, because if we get it wrong, we blew a chance at eliminating another letter. But when I had

Just a heads up for everyone, starting today and forever moving forward, the NYT and Power Language UK will have different words. A few days ago, I had been going to the NYT URL from googling “Wordle.” It was the same word as my wife was getting everyday from her bookmarked URL for the original UK game. I just assumed the URL had changed.

Today, she and I had different words and I was very confused while she was playing the game after I had gotten it much earlier this morning. After she missed the word, I explained that my word was different. She looked it up and sure enough it started today that the two would have unique words.

The stats carried over for me switching to the NYT site several days back. She went to the NYT site afterword and played that winning word just to see if the stats carried over today. They do.

So you can now play two Wordles every day, but keep in mind when posting here which word everyone is playing.

Oh, I also learned that the NYT skipped the 2/15 word from the planned list so unless something changes, the UK version will merely be the NYT word from the previous day from now on. How fucked up is that?
