WrestleMania XXX at The Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on 4/6/14 PART 2

How about the spot that ref was in? Imagine what's going through his mind when he hits the mat the third time.

lol he probably thought he was gonna get murdered for breaking the streak accidentally. 'wtf I blew the spot I BROKE THE STREAK OH NO :'('

So what happens to Taker now that Vince believes he's done? How do you say goodbye to a character like The Undertaker?

According to WO, only Vince, Brock, Taker and Heyman knew the finish for sure. They're not even certain if HHH and Stephanie knew.

Brock/Taker wasn't that good, but I loved the nod to the cell match by having Brock reverse the tombstone into the F-5. I'm also surprised that the 21-1 graphic didn't leak out at some point.

If only 4 people knew why did the betting odds change from a longshot to Brock being the favorite before it closed?

I don't buy that the ref didn't know. He counts 3 with no hesitation and calls for the bell immediately. If he thought he was going rogue in breaking the streak I doubt he would have reacted so quickly.

If the referee didnt know, you would have probably seen him go into a panic attack after the three.

The ref has an earpiece. I don't buy that after that third F5, someone didn't tell him "count to three here, this is the finish".

Heyman told everyone he owes money to that Brock was going over.

Except, there was no choice. Whether Undertaker does another match or not, Vince McMahon was going on the assumption that this was his last hurrah, and he could either win, or lose. McMahon chose the idea that it was better to lose on your way out. That is the common wrestling mentality. Whether this should have been different, who knows? Lesnar happened to be the guy booked on the day McMahon came to this conclusion. Obviously, if Undertaker had told him that he was coming back next year, or argued, it may not have happened.

One person close to the situation said McMahon talked Undertaker into doing it. Another, who would also know, described it as McMahon making the call and Undertaker agreeing and that he wasn’t talked into doing something he didn’t want to do. It was not his original call, but he was in on it and never protested the call. And perhaps, like he thought in late 2010, if he was going to lose, maybe he thought this was the guy.

WON

Interesting that it may have been Vince's call and Taker just went with it since he liked Brock.

It occurs to me, well...it's like one of those things you know but without putting it into words, that mania was so great because it was that rare show that was both the culmination of some things (Bryan winning for real. Even the taker streak if you want to factor it in) and the beginning of others (the feel of a new era really). That's hard to duplicate and can only be done every so often. It's like the opposite of 17 which was the end of a great era and the beginning of a lesser one. This felt like the capper to the same old same old we've had for years. Though time will really tell on that...the seeming elevation of acts that should have staying power (Bryan, shield, bray, Cesaro) leaves me with a lot of hope.

It's too early to call this the dawning of a new era...but damn does it feel like it is.

This also has the added effect of making guys like Cena, Orton and Batista look even more like aging dinosaurs. Though, I'm certain with Orton and Batista...we're SUPPOSED to look at them that way.

It's not quite "Hogan in the WWF in 1993" levels, but it's close.

EDIT: Cena and RVD both said on SmackDown it's a new era, so I guess it's cannon now. The New WWE Generation!

Just watching the show for the first time now. Did not know they unearthed Danny Davis for the Legends segment. Awesome.

Went back and watched the main event for the third or fourth time. I would be incredibly sour on the match in retrospect if Punk had reemerged to save Bryan when the place started chanting for him.

I wasn't chanting for him!

Speaking of Punk, if you care enough and have WGN, he will be making his first public appearance since leaving WWE today when he sings "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" during the seven inning stretch at the Cubs game.

12 years later and Orton is still in the main event lol
