WWE RAW GOES TO NETFLIX

netflix is the least worst streaming platform so that works for me. it's interface and search are actually decent and it works well on every app i use it on. If I ever bother watching WWE again regularly it seems like the best option. They also seem like the only platform that isn't cutting content constantly.

This is also good for AEW which is what I actually care about.

I’m really interested to see if this brings other changes to Raw. Will there still be commercials? Will it still be three hours, airing from 8 to 11? Will it be available in 4K?

Also: This deal begins in January 2025. The current contract for Raw on USA expires in October. I would assume WWE works out a short-term extension with USA for the rest of the year to cover the gap, but I wonder why the Netflix deal wouldn’t just start as soon as the USA one ends.

$5 Billion!!!

Sports (entertainment) television rights deals are crazy go nuts.

They should put RAW on torrent sites like TNA did between their Fox Sports Net run and Spike TV runs just to pop me and @Laz

Hunter has often said he prefers two hours and that the extra hour was always a network thing. They might keep it at 3 hours out of routine but I have to believe Hunter wants things his way. It’ll absolutely still have ad breaks.

Let’s get nuts. Have Raw on house shows only for 2 months. Have fans film them on camcorders from the 200 level of arenas and sell them on the tape trader market.

Speaking of dumb ideas, what are the odds that WBD and AEW would consider moving a show to Mondays? Going against Raw on Netflix (and football for 4 months a year) is probably a suicide mission, but I can see them being seduced by having the only wrestling show on linear TV on Monday nights, and it’s not like ratings for Collision or Rampage are particularly great in their current slots.

So what I read is that Netflix will also become a WWE Network hub of sorts too for places other than the U.S.? For live and archived PLEs, docs, archive of weekly TV, etc.

With that said, I would not be at all shocked if the entire Network fully goes to Netflix in the U.S. then after the Peacock deal expires. It seems like they are already setting themselves up for that.

This was legit shocking as I don't think most industry experts had Netflix on the radar as a real contender. Thankfully they have a year to plan this out as I am initially concerned how Netflix will be able to handle live events successfully without some major hiccups.

Even if Raw didn't air on USA from October to end of 2024, I wonder if Peacock could just air it exclusively for those few months?

Something else to keep an eye on: There was no mention of Mondays in the news release announcing the Netflix deal. The possibility of moving Raw to a different night is still very much on the table.

There’s a belief floating out there that USA wants Smackdown on Monday and Netflix isn’t as concerned about the date.

Raw being on another night would feel temporarily weird but at this point, both shows are interchangeable

I just want to know where the library goes.

Raw should go full TVMA now. Who gives a fuck.

Apparently if you have a subscription with no ads then there won't be any for WWE shows but the shows will still be filmed around ad breaks so get ready for longer rest holds to pass the time.

I only really think about the women's division and even then not everyone in it. But I will always want them to win me back.

Does Tubi have a watch together feature for @Laz and @JN News ?
